Trainer courses are designed for educators, guides, agency employees, and other outdoor professionals. Successful graduates of the Trainer Course
gain the skills to teach Leave No Trace techniques and ethics to their clients, friends and family. Participants learn the concepts of Leave No Trace
and prepare to teach Leave No Trace curriculum in a variety of settings schools, camps, parks,  wilderness and front country areas. Workshop
topics include the underlying ethics and seven principles of Leave No Trace.

This is the first step to becoming a trained facilitator on the WSU Low Ropes Course.  The WSU Low Ropes Course contains 12 elements built specifically to help groups explore their inner dynamics and help build relationships.  The elements are diverse and vary greatly in the degree of physical and mental involvement required for a group to succeed.  The facilitator's role is crucial on the challenge course.  This weekend training will take you through the course both as a participant and facilitator; you will learn new games, initiatives, and briefing techniques.  This is an active, hands-

Join the WSU Outdoor Resource Center in a multi-destination climbing adventure at two of the premier bouldering locations in the east, Rocktown, GA and Stonefort, TN. Enjoy crushing the picturesque sandstone of Stonefort for two days, then followed by an exploration Chattanooga’s downtown, including the fascinating wildlife at the Tennessee Aquarium. Our Journey will continue south to the shimmering golden sandstone of Rocktown before returning home from this weeklong epic.

For nearly 1444 miles, the Buckeye Trail winds around Ohio, reaching into every corner of the state. From a beachhead on Lake Erie near Cleveland, to a hilltop overlooking the Ohio River in Cincinnati, a hiker can experience a little of all that Ohio has to offer.

Spend a night under the stars enjoying the warmth of a campfire at John Bryan State Park. Enjoy good conversation and s’mores before retiring to the tent and the sounds of nature. In the morning wake up to a warm drink and hot breakfast before hitting the trail in Clifton Gorge. Hike 2.7 miles along the raging Little Miami River with impressive overlooks complete with winter icicles transforming this valley into a winter wonderland.

 Join the Outdoor Resource Center this Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend for winter fun in northern Ohio! Stay in the MetroParks Resource Center Cabin, furnished and complete with a bathroom, kitchen, and fireplace! If conditions allow, we will go cross country skiing and snowshoeing along wintry trails. Also on the agenda is hiking in Mentor Marsh State Nature Preserve, and a visit to Headlands Beach State Park! We will leave after classes on Friday afternoon and return on Monday evening.

Christine Plepys: Up and Around Mount Rainer

In 2004 Christine successfully and miserably climbed Mt. Rainier during a six-day climbing seminar with RMI Guides. The question of how well she does at altitude was answered: “Bad!” In 2008 she went back to happily backpack around the mountain on the lower elevation Wonderland Trail, which became one of her favorite trails. Henry Dorfman: Alaska, A Kayaking Experience of a Lifetime

Henry Dorfman is a co-founder of Paddlefest Cincinnati and founder of Cincypaddlers.org, the largest local paddling club in the country with over 2,200 members. In that capacity, he has led hundreds of sea kayak and whitewater paddling trips from Canada to Central America and from the Atlantic to the Pacific. In 2011, he set a record by kayaking on all five Great Lakes within a span of five consecutive days. Join him for a breathtaking view of Alaska.
