Join Women in Nature (WiN) for a weekend of backpacking on the Twin Valley Trail (TVT). Set in the rolling hills of Germantown MetroPark, the TVT winds through the shady woods and grassy meadows along Twin Creek. This beautiful trail, a short 40 minutes from WSU, is a gem for our quick weekend getaway. We will have a blast hiking, camping, and cooking outside. Strap on some crampons and join the Outdoor Resource Center as we journey up to Fenton, Michigan for a full day of ice climbing. Peabody Ice Climbing Club operates an incredible outdoor facility with two ice towers, 45 and 75 feet tall, just waiting for you to sink some axes into. Join the ORC and climbing expert Bill Johnson on an adventure that will take you to new heights! Within the 63,000 acres of New River Gorge National River are over 1,400 established rock climbs. The “New” has become one of the most popular climbing areas in the country. The cliffs are made up of a very hard sandstone and range from 30 to 120 feet in height. The rock is very featured, and an abundance of crack and face routes are available. This short course is for all, beginner to advanced!

Come for a weekend of rock climbing and bouldering in southern Ohio! One day will be spent climbing the beautiful cliff’s in Hocking Hills State Park. The second day we will head over to Athens for a full day of bouldering near Stroud’s Run Park.

Does the fall weather have you itching to move your climbing outside? Join the ORC as we take to the cliffs of John Bryan State Park for an evening “Rock Out”! This is the perfect opportunity for those wishing to take the skills they have acquired climbing at the gym out onto some real, old fashioned rock walls. We’ll bring all the equipment, know-how, and instruction. You bring a positive attitude and a desire to reach for the top.
*Participants are recommended to take a belay class in the climbing gym prior to this outing.
Come out and join the ORC and AMGA Climbing Guide Bill Johnson for an evening of cleanup and maintenance at our local climbing crag. Please check in at Wingo Parking area by 4pm to get started. We will drop a few ropes for climbing once the work is done.

If you want to improve your flexibility and balance, try our Yoga sessions on a stand-up paddle board! You must have taken a SUP lesson or have SUP experience before participating in the SUP Yoga sessions, we also recommend trying yoga on a mat before a board.

Stand Up Paddle boarding (or SUP) is the fastest growing water sport in the world for good reason – it’s incredibly fun and easy to learn. We’ll provide you with a stand up paddleboard, paddle and life jacket. We will cover all the basics you need to get started: proper stance, paddling technique, turning and more. Not only is SUP a great time, it’s also an excellent core workout!

How do you navigate from a boat that has no deck (canoe) or a small deck (kayak)? The answer is that we have to prepare ourselves beforehand and apply it to our on-the-water trip. This short workshop will introduce concepts of map and compass, reading and using charts, dead reckoning and navigating, as well as float planning. Dene Berman is an ACA Instructor Trainer who has field experience with Outward Bound, Wilderness Education Association, and Leave No Trace. He has used Navigation skills in places as disparate as Alaska, Baja California, The Everglades, and Northern Saskatchewan.
