The Freshmen Outdoor Orientation Trip (FOOT) is a unique wilderness experience which will take place the week before school begins. Trained upperclassmen will lead backpacking trips along the Appalachian Trail, The trips are designed for all levels of experience. F.O.O.T. offer an amazing opportunity for incoming students to meet a small group of new classmates and establish relationships with older student leaders.

 

Celebrate the end of Summer Semester with a trip to one of the most picturesque wilderness areas in the world!  This 25 mile loop starts at 9,000 ft and culminates at the top of 12,482 ft Mitchell Peak for an unbelievable view of the cirque bellow.  Participants will carry a full backpack with personal and group gear, and travel on difficult and remote terrain at altitude.  Over 5 days and 4 nights, participants will circumnavigate the entire cirque travelling off-trail over alpine passes.

 

 

Set in the rolling hills of the Twin Valley, the Twin Valley Trail provides a backpacking experience reminiscent of other wilderness trails with beautiful hills, babbling brooks, abundant wildlife, history and small town charm. Join us for a night of backcountry camping and a 12mile loop through Germantown Metropark, experience one of the great trails here in the Miami Valley. 

 

Cost: $40.00

Cost includes:  equipment, food, transportation, trip leaders

Activity Level: beginner-all welcome

 

Join the Outdoor Resource Center as we explore Kentucky’s Red River Gorge by foot and by kayak.  Saturday will be spent roaming the magnificent Auxier, Double Arch, and Star Gap Ridges with spectacular views of arches and cliffs, followed by a relaxing evening around the fire at Koomer Ridge Campground.  Sunday we trade in our hiking boots for water shoes as we paddle our kayaks through the heart of the gorge, surrounded by sandstone cliffs and giant boulders.

Come enjoy a day of rock climbing at the Red River Gorge.  This area of Kentucky is one of the most popular rock climbing destinations in the United States.  In a day we will hike down to our destination enjoy some great climbing and hike back out.  We will explore the beautiful Muir
Valley along the way.  Afterwards we will stop by Miguel’s for a chance to purchase any needed gear you have on your shopping list.  This trip will be ideal for new climbers as well as some intermediate climbers looking to explore the climbing world.

 

 

This is an opportunity for individuals who have significant mobility impairments to receive instruction in kayaking from expert instructors.  You will learn how to compensate for function lost due to your disability, how to adapt the boat and paddle to best suit your needs as you complete the ACA Introduction to Paddling course.

 

 

Would you like to test your Stand-up Paddle Boarding abilities? Stand-up Paddle Board races will be held after the SUP and yoga sessions on Tuesdays! Come and test your paddle boarding skills as you race across the lake with the grace of a ninja, the speed of a thousand leopards, and the strength of Thor’s Hammer. A variety of fun SUP Racing options will be offered so that any skill level can participate !
