The Laurel Highlands Hiking trail is a 70-mile backpacking and hiking trail in Western PA. Part of the Potomac Heritage Trail, it is one of the most celebrated Pennsylvania hiking trails for its varied terrain and wondrous beauty. Kick off summer with this trip, covering 47 miles of the trail, backpacking 5-9miles per day.  Celebrate the end the trip with an accelerating day of rafting on the Upper Youghiogheny River, Class V whitewater.

So your idea of Spring Break is fun in the sun?  Well, the ORC could not agree more, that’s why we’re headed down to New Smyrna Beach, Florida for a week of kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, and surfing!  We’ll spend our days out on the water and nights camped out under the stars.  The trip includes equipment and professional instruction for all activities. No experience necessary.  
 
Cost: $400.00  Cost includes: Instruction, all camping, kayaking, and surfing and equipment, and transportation, camping fees, and meals on location

Challenge yourself over break with a 29 mile loop through one of the most spectacular canyons in the world.  Elevation will range from 6,400ft on top of the South Rim down to 2,200ft along the Colorado River. Participants will carry a full backpack with personal and group gear, and travel along difficult and remote terrain. We can expect cold evenings and warm days.  The trip includes 5 days and 4 nights in the Canyon with a rest day at the bottom to enjoy the magnificent Colorado River.

Do you like to get scared?  Looking for something fun to do with friends during the week?  This is the event for you.  Come to the Outdoor Resource Center Challenge Course for our Tower of Terror.  Walk through our Haunted woods to our 60 foot Tower of Terror and then brave the walk up to the top.  There will be some surprises along the way.  The best part is that all the funds earned at this event will go to purchasing new climbing holds for the indoor climbing gym.  You do not want to miss this event.

Learn how to safely carry and use a knife, and how to properly cut wood with an ax. This class will cover how to sharpen blades, and backcountry safety.

Learn how fire has been made through the ages starting with a bow drill, then flint and steal, and in more modern times steel wool with a 9vt battery, and finally with matches and lighters. Don’t get caught this winter without the skill of fire building.

Join the ORC for Ohio’s most famous and scenic 6 mile hike through Hocking Hills State Park on the Grandma Gatewood Trail. The hike begins a Cedar Falls and continues past Old Man’s Cave and ends at Ash Cave, the states largest and most impressive recess cave.
