Join us to discuss our Spring reading selection, Trash by Dorothy Allison. The collection of short stories was published in 1988 and reprinted in 2002 with a new introduction, “Stubborn Girls and Mean Stories,” and a never-before-published story, “Compassion.” Trash won two Lambda Literary Awards as well as the American Library Association Prize for Lesbian and Gay Writing (www.dorothyallison.net). Trash is a precursor to Allison’s novel, Bastard Out of Carolina, which was a National Book Award finalist.

The 2012 Conference on Multimodal Composition is an unique conference designed to give English graduate students the opportunity to present on their use and research of multimodal literacies in the composition classroom. The second annual conference is sponsored by the English Conference Organization, which is an organization of Wright State University English graduate students. This year's keynote speaker is Dr. Kristine Blair of Bowling Green University.
 

Alpha Xi Delta presents our AmaXIng Challenge this year, Xi Marks the Spot. Xi marks the Spot consists of a ten-stop scavenger hunt across the Wright State Campus. Teams of five will receive clues at each stop to lead them to the next. Also at each stop, there will be a puzzle of some sort, whether it is mental or physical, that the teams must complete to get their clue for the next location. After the teams go to each location they will return to the start to do one final puzzle. Prizes will be awarded to the three teams that finish first.

This is a fun and mysterious event where students will learn ways to protect and prevent themselves from predicaments such as robbery, kidnapping, and murder. Come out and learn ways to stay safe with the Woods Community Council. Food Will be served.

The Queen of Hearts pageant will consist of several sections, including a formal section. There will also be raffles and a silent auction going on. Admission is $5. All proceeds from this event will go to the American Heart Association.

Sigma Phi Epsilon will be hanging out on the quad to pass out information on the American Heart Association and on Sigma Phi Epsilon. We will also be having lawn games going on, including corn hole, kickball, and others.
