Students pursuing a master’s degree in Wright State University’s new renewable and clean energy program are, well, energetic. The program was started in January 2009 by Wright State and is the first to offer a renewable/alternative/sustainability engineering masters degree in Ohio. more »
Every sunny day, 14 of them are camped out on the roof of the Student Union at Wright State University, soaking up rays. But they’re not students—they’re solar panels. The solar array, installed earlier this year, helps heat the indoor swimming pool and serves as a testament to the university’s commitment to renewable energy. more »

Thankfully, the first Earth Day was celebrated in 1970 on April 2. Prior to 1970, there was very little regulation of industry in the U.S. The resulting damage was daily pollution and dumping of industrial waste. Environmental degradation led to disasters like chemical waste in the Cuyahoga River catching fire; the Love Canal disaster and many, many more.
