Services
Academic advising is available to all Lake Campus students. Through this service, advice is offered in planning the schedule of courses to be taken during one's college career. General Education requirements, classes in specialized fields, courses which must be taken in sequence and electives are considered. The academic advisor recommends quarterly schedules in accordance with the chosen career path so that the students will have the necessary credit hours in the appropriate classes to obtain their degrees.
Technology, Academic/Instructional Programs, and Services
Technology, Academic/Instructional Programs, and Services, formerly known as Academic and Instructional Services, provides opportunities for students, staff and faculty to ensure their academic success.
For students, at all levels of academic proficiency, such opportunities include tutoring, study sessions, and independent/individualized instruction in conjunction with another department and/or through TAPS itself. These services are free of charge to any WSU-Lake Campus student who wishes to participate in them. Students experiencing hardships that prevent them from taking their examinations during regular class times are able to take make-up exams through TAPS on Fridays during the quarter (Thursdays during the summer). Computers and materials allow students opportunities to improve their basic skill deficiencies or allow more advanced students to progress more rapidly in certain subjects or skills. In addition, TAPS assists disabled students in the realization of their potential by providing supplemental services on their behalf. Such services may include readers, scribes, extended testing arrangements, test proctoring, tutoring, and textbooks on CD.
Technology Assistance (TA) is an individualized instructional service in TAPS that provides students, staff and faculty at Wright State University Lake Campus an opportunity to become familiar and comfortable with a variety of technological tools to ensure successful learner-centered experiences. For example, using either a Windows or Macintosh environment, visitors can design and create original multimedia assignments, presentations, and displays to augment their academic and professional goals.
As a result, the Lake Campus will become more technologically savvy and capable of being successful and competitive in our increasingly tech-dependent global society. Trained student lab assistants will be available to assist participants on a first come/first served basis. It is our hope that those acquiring these marketable and specialized skills will gain an edge for successful learning/teaching experiences, future employment and lifelong achievement.
For staff, TAPS provides the opportunity to become acquainted with the latest technological tools to better serve the university community. This service is provided in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere where learning can vary according to the needs and desires of the participants
For full-time and adjunct faculty,(TAPS)focuses on enhancing instructional practices and fostering an understanding of academic policies/procedures, as well as providing opportunities to become acquainted with the teaching expertise of other educators and colleagues at Wright State University and beyond. Our goal is that TAPS will facilitate the faculty’s exposure to different modes of instruction utilizing technology to teach the necessary skills needed by students in today’s world.

Job Placement
The primary purpose of the job placement service is to assist students in locating suitable employment prior to or upon graduation. Employers occasionally contact the Lake Campus for both full-time and part-time positions. These postings are listed in the Wright Search through the Career Services Office. During their final year on campus, students are encouraged to complete a Credential File which may contain the students’ resume, transcript, faculty references or other personal data information.
Lake Campus students can access to the Dayton Campus’s Career Services Office for career advising and job placement assistance.
Veterans Benefits
The staff in the office of the registrar at the Lake Campus will assist qualifying individuals to prepare the necessary forms, and will follow through with the regional VA office to ensure benefits are received.
The Veterans Administration requires that educational assistance benefits to veterans and other eligible persons be discontinued if the student ceases to make satisfactory progress toward graduation. Benefits will be terminated if the student's cumulative GPA falls below 2.0 for more than two quarters, without an improvement in academic standing.
Learning Center
A vital part of the Lake Campus is the Learning Center. As part of the renovation, what was once the library is now home to the Learning Center, where library staff members are still available to assist patrons with books and periodicals as well as OhioLINK and other databases. Students can now also take advantage of more computer availability and private study space.
Bookstore
The Bookstore is available for the convenience of Lake Campus students, providing textbooks, academic supplies, WSU apparel, and gifts. When a student purchases texts for a given quarter, the following suggestions should be kept in mind:
- Bring the printed class schedule
- Do not write in any book until certain that the book is the one required for a specific class section and that you don’t intend to drop the class.
Refund and book buy-back policies are as follows:
- Unmarked and undamaged books may be returned for full refund within ten days from the date classes start if accomplished by the cash register tape.
- Books being used the following quarter may be bought back from students during an announced period before the quarter begins. The bookstore also purchases texts for used book companies all year round.
