HOMECOMING KING AND QUEEN NOMINATIONS

Awards: $250 WSU Bookstore Voucher, Perpetual Plaque and Watch.
Rules: All registered student organizations are encouraged to nominate a King, Queen or both, who will serve as your representative(s). The Selection Committee will review all applications. The 2006 Homecoming Court (the top five King and the top five Queen candidates) will be announced on September 27, 2006 and be featured in the October 4, 2006 edition of the Guardian. Voting for Queen and King candidates will take place on Monday, October 9, 2006 and Tuesday, October 10, 2006 in the Hangar and the Union Market from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Applications are Available in the Office of Student Activities, 019 S.U.
All candidates MUST:
- Ride in the Homecoming Parade beginning at 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2006
- Attend Homecoming Kickoff festivities from Noon until 2:00 p.m. on October 11, 2006 on the North Lawn
- Attend Men’s Soccer Game on Friday, October 13, 2006 at 7:00 p.m.
- Attend the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, October 14, 2006 at 8:00 p.m. in the Hangar
- Be an "Ambassador of Goodwill" for the University and the Alumni Association

Need help keeping your references organized? Looking for an easier way to create bibliographies and footnotes? Try RefWorks, a web-based citation management program. With RefWorks, users can create a personal database of resources and keep them easily organized. RefWorks is available to all WSU faculty, staff, and students.

WRIGHT STATE'S MINI-MEDICAL SCHOOL FOCUSES ON HEALTHY AGING
Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine will present a four-week Mini-Medical School Lecture Series for the entire community on Tuesday evenings, October 3 through October 24. This series, Focusing on Healthy Aging, will run Tuesdays from 7 9 p.m., on Wright State’s Campus. Tuition is $20 per person and covers parking, refreshments, course handouts, and supplies. Registration is required and space is limited, so enroll early!
The schedule for the Mini-Medical School Series programs include:
October 3 What is Normal Aging?: Myths and Reality The evening includes an exclusive, after-hours tour of Time s Body of Evidence, a nationally curated exhibit on aging at the University Art Galleries.
October 10 Body Changes with Aging: Bone, Muscle and Fat and Gait and Balance: Reducing the Risk of Falls and Fractures.
October 17 Dementia or Senior Moment?
October 24 Singing the Blues: Depression in Later Life and Seeing the Blues: Laboratory Approaches to Age-Related Vision Loss.

Events include an Internet broadcast of a speech by General Colin Powell, guest speakers State Senator Tom Roberts and Columbus attorney Eric Brook, and a discussion of the Constitution as it relates to executive power, the war on terrorism, the use of military force, domestic spying, evolution and intelligent design, and same sex marriage. The WSU Cheerleaders support the men’s & women’s soccer programs, men’s & women’s basketball and women’s volleyball. In addition they also compete nationally and are currently ranked as one of the top 10 teams in the nation! The cheerleaders are also active in the community and make other public appearances as well. Please note that being a member of the team is a huge time commitment and you must attend all practices and performances.

Film Description: “Stitching Our Future,” 2003, 24 minutes.
Documentary of the success story of Coopa-Roca, a cooperative of seamstresses in a shantytown area of Rio de Janeiro. In an effort to provide an income for their families, the group designs and manufactures women’s clothing and accessories. A community volunteer provides fabric and marketing expertise. The unique craftsmanship of these women, most of them impoverished immigrants from the Brazilian Northeast, is valued by internationally known fashion designers and clothing merchants.
