DAYTON HELP
You are not alone. Herpes is estimated to affect some 80 million people in America. At least one in five adults in the United States has genital herpes. Sometimes, you need to talk and share with others your experiences living with Herpes. Dayton HELP meets the first Thursday of every month at 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. At each meeting members may listen, talk, and explore how to live with Herpes, talk with partners, and manage symptoms. You can come to one group or every meeting…it depends on the HELP you need. There is no cost to participate and participation is confidential.

Wright State is rolling out the red carpet for the hottest celebrities on campus - YOU! Don your finest apparel and dress up as your favorite celebrities for fabulous prizes. Once you arrive, you will receive star treatment, as you prance down the red carpet towards a night of delicious food and pulse-pounding music. Hors d'oeuvres will be served alongside desserts and sparkling punch. Prizes will be given out for the most creative celebrity costumes and best dressed guests.
So, are you in? We have a fabulous A-list of Wright State royalty, and your name is on it! Join us for the Red Carpet Gala Homecoming Dance!

EMINENT SEMINAR SPEAKER SERIES

The Eminent Seminar Speaker Series a Pharmacology & Toxicology seminar by Guy Rouleau, MD.Ph.D., Professor of Medicine and Director of the Center for Brain Research at the University of Montreal. Dr. Rouleau will talk about the molecular basis of the ACCPN syndrome, a severe genetic sensorimotor disorder due to a defect locus at chromosome 15 involving key mutations in the K-Cl cotransporter family which is part of his studies into the immunological and genetic basis of neurological diseases. It is likely that he will give an overview of the many immunological and genetic diseases he is working on and of the extensive list of collaborators from around the world, with whom he exchanges tissue samples and DNA/cultured cells.

KAYAKING BASICS - 2 PART SERIES

Learn the basics of kayaking! This class is appropriate for whitewater, recreational, or touring boaters looking for information on getting started safely. The class will cover loading and unloading equipment, getting in and out of the boat, making wet exits, using a paddle, basic strokes, maneuvering, and safety information. Dress to get wet. Participation in this class will allow you to participate in the WSU kayak rental program.

LOW ROPES COURSE

This is the first step to becoming a trained facilitator on the WSU low ropes course. The WSU low ropes course contains 11 elements built specifically to help groups explore their inner dynamics and help build relationships. The elements are diverse and vary greatly in the degree of physical and mental involvement required for a group to succeed. The facilitator's role is crucial on the challenge course. This weekend training will take you through the course both as a participant and facilitator; you will learn new games, initiatives, and techniques. This is an active, hands-on, experimental training. If you are looking to add leadership to your resume, you have found an incredible opportunity.

TAASC VOLUNTEER OVERVIEW

Join Wright State University's Department of Campus Recreation to learn about The Adaptive Adventure Sports Coalition (TAASC). The mission of TAASC is to enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities by providing sports and recreational activities and to offer opportunities for empowerment through education, leadership, and training in collaboration with community-based organizations. This presentation will give an overview and description of TAASC and adaptive sports in general, which include cycling, kayaking, sailing, water skiing, alpine skiing, and ice skating. People will also learn how they can be involved as either volunteers or participants. This is an introduction session for alpine ski and kayak volunteers. Ski volunteers will receive a free ski pass on days they volunteer.
