APPLY TO BE A UVC 101 INSTRUCTOR
Want to be creative, help new students, and gain experience teaching, all while being paid for it? Then consider becoming a UVC 101 Peer Instructor for Fall 2007!
Peer Instructors are carefully selected and trained upper-class students and graduate students who teach a section of UVC 101: First Seminar 1 for a group of 20 to 25 new students.
As important paraprofessional staff members of WSU, Peer Instructors serve as teachers, role models, and sources of information for new students. Training, resources, a master syllabus, supervision and mentoring will be provided. Compensation is $7.65 per hour, for about 6 to 7 hours a week, plus pay for training. Candidates must have a cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher, have earned at least 60 quarter hours of college credit after Winter Quarter 2007, and have been at WSU as a student for at least two quarters.

Between the Lines: Asian American Women's Poetry, 2001, 65 minutes (the first half of this film will be shown today; the second half will be shown on April 16).
This documentary serves as a poetry reading, virtual anthology, and a testimony about gender, ethnicity, aesthetics, and creative choice, reflecting the individual voice and diversity within the Asian-American women's community. This film will be shown in acknowledgement of Asian Heritage Month.

The Women's Studies Lecture Series presents Dr. Michael Kimmel, Professor of Sociology, State University of New York, Stony Brook. Dr. Kimmel will critique John Gray's assertion that men and women are so different they might as well be from different planets. He asserts that women and men are similar, and will demonstrate how and why men should support gender equality. He will discuss the workplace, friendship, privilege, fatherhood, sex, love, health, and sexual assault. Free and open to everyone.
