Thursday, August 23
Move-In Day 2012! Hosted by the Office of Residence Services 9 a.m.–3 p.m. The Woods Residence Communities, Honors and Hamilton Halls
The WSU Parents’ Thank You Reception You Survived Move-In Day!
Congratulations! You’re a new WSU parent!

New WSU parents will have an opportunity to meet Student Affairs and University College staff who provide support services that are central to their students’ academic and social-cultural success. Useful resource materials will also be available.

Light refreshments will be served.
3–4 p.m. Allyn Hall—
The Hangar
Mandatory Floor Meetings Come meet your RA and connect with others on your floor! More information about the weekend's activities will also be shared at these meetings! 7:30 p.m. Your Residence Hall Floor
Scavenger Hunt (August 23-Sept. 22) Teams of students from residence hall floors and commuter students will compete to see which team can find the most locations and participate in the most events! (August 23-Sept. 22) WSU Main Campus & Beyond
"Blow Your Mind with Hypnotist Dale K" Come meet new friends, get points for the Scavenger Hunt, and be blown away by the things your classmates are willing to do through the power of suggestion!

See Hypnotist Dale K! Too much fun, so don't miss this one!

Friday, August 24
College Presentations, Picnic with President David R. Hopkins, and Freshman Convocation All events coordinated by Enrollment Management Division 9:30 a.m.–5 p.m. WSU Main Campus, Alumni Circle and the Ervin J. Nutter Center
Do The “U”
  • Meet student leaders at the Student Organization Fair
  • Snacks, refreshments, raffles and prizes
  • Participate in fun and exciting activities
  • Visit the Barnes & Noble Bookstore
  • Sign up for the Scavenger Hunt and the Sunday Field Day Activities!
7–9 p.m. Student Union—Atrium and Rec Commons
Drive-In Movie Night After Do the "U", grab a blanket or purchase a SWAT blanket (Student Weekend Activities Team) at the event. Get together with your new friends to see one of the hottest movies of the summer of 2012—Men in Black 3!

Free popcorn and soda will be provided at the event!
9–11 p.m. SWSU Main Campus— *Under the Water Tower:

Saturday, August 25
“Hey RA, Where are my classes?” Follow your RA or assigned student leader while they help you find your classes 10–11 a.m. Meet with your RA or Student Leader at "The Mall—Under BART"
“True Life:  I’m a student at WSU” Real life scenarios involving hooking up and bullying. Learn how each choice or decision has an impact on your life and the lives of others around you. Get the low down on things you need to know!

Are YOU ready for college?
11 a.m.–2 p.m. Main Campus

Get Moving—Indoor and outdoor campus recreation activities Participate in indoor and outdoor recreation activities such as fitness classes, kayak demos, climb the "climbing wall", swim at the pool, mud volleyball, and more!
Coordinated by Campus Recreation and the Student Alumni Association
1–4 p.m. Student Union
The Big Event: UAB's Comedy Show!

Join us Saturday night and laugh yourself to tears with our line up of comedians! The show will help welcome new WSU students by giving you something in common to laugh at. You don't want to miss it!

Doors open at 6 p.m. Show starts at 7 p.m.

Sunday, August 26
Get Ready, Set And Go! Field Day

Rubber Chickens, Giant Pants and Cupcakes are just a few of the obstacles you and your teammates may encounter during First Weekend Field Day!

Compete alongside your fellow first year student classmates in a number of wild relays and events and earn points in the First Weekend Scavenger Hunt!

Hosted by Campus Recreation

1–4 p.m. Rinzler Student Sports Complex
Mandatory Floor Meetings

Hosted by Residence Life staff. All residential students, new and returning, are required to come and hear about policies, procedures, amenities, and upcoming activities and events offered by their residence community.

Residents will be given the opportunity to meet all of the residents that live on their floor, including continuing students!

Representatives for Community Council will be selected at these meetings, so it important that you come so your voice can be heard!

6:30–8:30 p.m. Residential Communities Residence Hall Floors or Outside of Your On-Campus Apartment Building
Meijer's Welcome EventMeijer Mania!

Come to Meijer and join the fun! Free food, samples, prizes and much more! Find deals to deck out our dorm room.

Free on-campus bus service directly to the store.
