(Otherwise known as Eric's Ramblings)

9/20/06

Welcome back everyone!  I apologize for the long delay between updates.  I have been extremely busy with my new job and moving into my new house, but I am ready for another season of WSU Men's Volleyball.  There are several changes this year, but I feel that this should be our strongest year to date.  To start off, for the first time in 3 years, I am no longer your humble president.  That honor, and all the complaints that go with it, belongs to Andy Kies.  I feel that I am leaving the club in good hands, however.  In addition, we have several new players.  David Gibble is a strong middle that comes to us from Centerville.  Craig Erford is a skilled defensive specialist who played with the team a little bit last year, but had already committed to a different USA-V team so was unable to play any tournaments with the Raiders.

As far as tournaments go, we are still in the pre-season.  Our true season begins very late December, early January.  That said, the team will try to go to some pre-season tournaments in the area, but as of this time, there are none posted.  Due to the Raiders great success last year in the BB division of the Ohio Volleyball Region (Region Champions), the league directors have forced us to step up to the A division.  That will be just fine as our team has improved over last year.  The Raiders are looking to impress at the next level.

As for the B team, it is still a little bit up in the air.  Due to the loss of a couple of B team players, the team is looking thin.  As of right now, talks are in the works for the remaining players returning from the B team to join up with last year's A' team player Eric Hughes, and the brother of setter Kelby Rossetter (Joey) to put in a team at the BB level.  This would be a step up for most of the team, however, Joey is a fantastic player, that would not be able to play at the B level without some skeptical looks.  So it sounds like that is what the B team will consist of this year.  I have spearheaded this endeavor with Scott Patton, and it appears that it will work out, but it will depend on players' availability.

That's all the news I've got right now.  I hope to be able to update this page frequently.  I will do the best that I can!
