Greek Affairs Council (GAC)

Our Greek community takes pride in it's 40+ year history at Wright State University. We are host to 18 fraternity and sorority chapters committed to excellence in scholarship, leadership and service. At WSU, fraternity and sorority members share in service, scholastic, philanthropic and leadership experiences while also participating in slef governance. The staff in the Office of Student Activities, in collaboration with chapter members, over see 4 executive councils; The Greek Affairs Council, which serves as the governing body for all Greek councils and organizations, the Interfraternity Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council and National Panhellenic Conference. These councils provide support in the areas of programming, budgeting, council management, leadership development, membership recruitment, public relations, policy interpretation, and scholastic achievement to their 400 members

The National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) is composed of 26 international sororities/women’s fraternities, five of which exist on WSU’s campus. NPC organizations exist to: provide a good democratic social experience; give value beyond college years; create, through their ideals, an ever-widening circle of service beyond the membership; develop the individual's potential through leadership opportunities and group effort; and to fill the need of belonging. (http://www.npcwomen.org/about.aspx)

The Interfraternity Council (IFC) is the governing organization for all the fraternities on campus at Wright State University.  The men of IFC work to unite fraternities, to focus on common goals, and to create a network of support for chapters and members.  Further, at their core is a focus on scholarship, service to the university and community, leadership development, and a commitment to lifelong social bonds.

National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)

“The National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc. (NPHC) is a coalition of the nine (9) largest historically African American Greek-letter fraternities and sororities, currently representing over 1.5 million members internationally.  Additionally, the organization boasts a diverse membership comprised of students, celebrities, corporate, political and community leaders. The NPHC was organized on May 10, 1930 on the campus of Howard University.  For over seventy-five (75) years, members of the constituent Greek-letter organizations of NPHC have convened to discuss and address issues of mutual concern. The collective social and economic power of the NPHC has been a major source of change for the African American community in America since its inception.” (www.nphchq.org)
