American Indians & Western Art, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, and
the IUPUI (Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis)
archives. Rachel is contacting the Children’s Museum about a behind-

leave at 8:30 am from Lot 4 at WSU and expect to be home around 6 or 7
pm. Please RSVP for the trip by February 7 to Garret (kremer-
wright.2@wright.edu). If there are fewer than 7 or 8 people
interested, the trip may be canceled.

2. Danny Schlegel works at Dayton History and will lead a special tour
of Carillon Park and Patterson Homestead for us. The fieldtrip is
tentatively scheduled for April.

3. Other possibilities for fieldtrips include the Kettering
Foundation, Sisters of the Precious Blood archives, and the Ohio
Historical Society archives.

Announcements/ Events:

1. The Dayton Chapter of ARMA International (the Association of
Records Managers and Administrators) is presenting a seminar on
Records Management in the Digital Age and Preparing a Functional
Disaster Plan at the Nutter Center on March 27. More information,
including a list of speakers and a registration form, is attached.
There will be a certain number of free or discounted tickets available
to Public History grad students. Check with the History Department if
you are interested. I will send further information as I receive it.

2. Collette Hill will be graduating in March, leaving the position of
Vice President of SAA vacant. Let Garret know if you are interested
in the position. Also, several of our members will be graduating in
June, so encourage new members to join!

3. 2007 professional conferences to be aware of:
-AMA Conference, May 13-17
-SAA Conference in August. Collette attended this last year and
highly recommends it.
-Digital Scanning Conference in Milwaukee

Two $250 dollar scholarships to attend the SAA Conference in August or
the AMA on May 13-17 are available through the History Department. To
apply, you must write a letter of intent. Contact Dr. McClellan if
interested.

4. Dayton History Day is March 3 at Stivers School for the Arts from
8am-noon. Volunteers are needed to judge student projects, including
videography, exhibits, interpretation and papers. This is a great
opportunity to meet public history professionals in the Dayton area.
Contact Bridget Federspiel (bfedersp@dps.k12.oh.us) if interested.
There will be opportunities to volunteer at other schools if you are
unavailable on March 3.

Fundraising and Promotional Ideas:

1. Archives Calendar for the 2007-2008 school year. Natalie got
quotes for printing costs and suggested we print one calendar for
$12.50 and make photocopies to assemble ourselves for $2/calendar. We
will proceed with a mock-up. Contact Natalie or Collette if you have
ideas for photographs or would like to help.

2. We will put together a packet of information about SAA and the cost
benefits for membership (SAA books for the archives courses) during
Spring quarter. This information will then be distributed to incoming
students through the History Department.
