SAA/PAT Minutes from
October 21, 2007 Meeting
- Introduction and sign in sheet.

Vice, Tiffany O’Sheal, Lisa Pasquinelli, Nathan Troup, Daniel Schlegel,
Andrea Green, Lauren Schaubhut
- If you are not getting the e-mails about the
meetings, please let Danny know
- Yearly
dues of $10 are due for SAA
members. Turn in to Lisa or the
History Department Office ASAP.
- There is an SAA
student conference on Saturday, Feb 9th at Indiana University. It
starts at 10am. The deadline for
the submission of papers to be presented in November 20th. This event is strongly encouraged to get
experience presenting a paper at a conference. Several students will be attending and
some presenting, so we will try to carpool as best we can to the
event. Please contact Danny if you
are interested and visit the website for a link to the IU student
chapter’s website for more conference information.
- Ideas for Winter
Field Trips were discussed with tentative dates and locations. The following plans are being made. Please let Danny know if you can
come! Danny is working on
contacting the various museums to see if we can get a behind-the-scenes
tour with a curator or get discounted ticket rates. We have some funds in the SAA account
that we can possibly use towards entrance fees if need be. We will try to carpool to these events
and Danny is looking into the possibility to using University
transportation.

December 1st – Cincinnati Museum Center in Cincinnati, OH
- Saturday,
January 5th – Henry Clay House & Shaker Village Pleasant Hill in Lexington, KY
- Sarah provided information about a public
history speaker on November 8,
2007, at 7:30pm at the Cincinnati Museum Center, Free to
attend. She will be attending.
- Reflections on Public History John E. Flemming, Ph.D.
"Thousands of people in museum and public history circles know John
E. Flemming as a trusted adviser, mentor, and friend and Dr. Flemming has
brought a gentle passion to his great love of making museums effective
educational environments. Join him as he reflects on his fruitful
career as a leader in public history."
- Spring
Break field trip ideas were
discussed for a 3-4 day trip that would not be too expensive to
attend. The finalist cities were
chosen and Sarah is in the process of finding museums and attractions as
well as hotels in the cities and final destination will be chosen at the
November meeting. If you know of
any museums or attractions in these locations that you would be interested
in attending, please e-mail Sarah. Finalist locations are as follows:
- Detroit, MI
- Nashville, TN
- Chicago, IL
- If you are interested in the position of Vice-President for SAA or Secretary
for PAT, please come to the next meeting. Tiffany is graduating in November and
nominations and elections will be held for these positions at the next
meeting.
- We have added SAA and PAT as groups on
Facebook. This is another way that
we can get out announcements about meetings and we can all stay in
touch. Please contact Lisa if you would
like to be added to the group.
- The next
meeting will be held on Sunday, November 11th at 8pm, in
the group study room on the first floor of the library.
