Nexus publishes poetry, short stories, flash fiction, novel excerpts (that can stand alone), memoirs, photography, graphic prints, drawings, digital art, graphic pieces (comic book style pieces), and paintings. Each piece is considered for its effectiveness in style, detail, mood, and content.

All submissions should include:

• a cover letter with the artist's name, address, e-mail address, and telephone number
• a short autobiographical statement
• the artist's name on each submission

Poetry Guidelines:
Nexus aims to publish meaningful, experimental, and truthful poetry. We discourage inspirational, light verse and previously published poems. We ask that you send no more that 5 poems per submission.

If your poem has unusual formatting, please e-mail it as a Microsoft Word attachment so we can ensure that it gets published exactly as you have it in the document. We cannot guarantee that we will use special fonts.

Fiction Guidelines:
Nexus aims to publish flash, experimental, regional fiction, and "slice of life" pieces. We also accept stand alone novel excerpts. Please limit your fiction to no more than 15 pages. Exceptions will be made in cases of superior quality, and as our budget allows.

Art Guidelines:
Nexus aims to publish artwork of all kinds that are suitable for black and white print or that can be photographed with a digital camera. Depending on our current budget, we also publish some color work. It is best to contact the editor prior to submitting if your work is in color. If digital art or photography is your specialty, send us a high quality .JPEG, Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator or PageMaker file. We will review your submission and contact you if changes in format or size need to be made.

All art submissions will be considered for the cover, and specific cover designs are also considered.

Each piece should include the artist's name and title. An arrow indicating the top of the art is recommended. Please send no more than 10 pieces for submission and clearly state how and when you would like your art returned to you. We can hold it in the office for pickup or make shipping arrangements.

We cannot accept slides.
