Lift Individual Voices

for Equality

Lift Individual Voices for Equality (LIVE) was established in the spring of 2006 with a vision to create a gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and allies organization that focused on community service. Former student, Ashley Bowers, is the founder of LIVE and was the president from 2006-2008. Ashley's mission was to create another option for the GLBTQA community at Wright State University. LIVE is working in partnership with 4 Paws for Ability, PFLAG Dayton, Youth Quest, Equality Ohio, Wright State's Rainbow Alliance and the Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance. For the past two years, LIVE has organized and sponsored the Queer Prom at WSU. Both years it was a huge success! In 2008, LIVE made over $800 for charity (4 Paws for Ability and PFLAG Dayton) at the event. The event was created especially for those individuals who couldn't attend their high school prom for fear of discrimination, however it is a safe, inclusive environment for EVERYONE! The Queer Prom includes dancing, food, raffle prizes, professional photography, and more! The 2009 Queer Prom date will be announced soon, so keep checking back!
