Welcome to the Wright State University Chapter of Golden Key!

What is Golden Key and what do we stand for?

Golden Key is an internationally recognized and respected academic honour society focusing on community service and development of character. The members of Golden Key are held to high standards, including being in the top 15% of each academic class, having earned a minimum of 45 credit hours, a 3.6 cumulative GPA for undergraduates (4.0 cumulative GPA for graduate level). Students who meet the criteria receive an invitation from the International Golden Key Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. The ultimate goal of Golden Key is to enable members to realize their full potential by becoming involved not only in his or her studies, but also in their respective community; they are expected to be leaders in the classroom and in the world.

Golden Key is built on three pillars: Academics, Leadership and Service. Our organization values traits that are found in great leaders: Integrity, Collaboration, Innovation, Respect, Diversity, Excellence and Engagement

    Why I Joined GK: My sister was involved in this organization and I saw the positive impact it makes on the community and I wanted to be part of it!

    Position: Penny Drive Co-Coordinator

    Major: Psychology; Minor in Spanish

    Intended Career Goals: After I graduate from undergraduate school here I plan to attend grad school and get my PhD in clinical psychology. I am hoping to specialize in eating disorders and to work as a counselor for that.

    Why I Joined GK: I joined GK to get involved in service activities and interact with other high-achieving students.!

    Sarah VanNess

    Position: Educational Outreach Co-Coordinator

    Major: Early Childhood Education

    Intended Career Goals: I will be graduating in the spring with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education. I plan to attend graduate school to receive endorsements in Reading and Pre-kindergarten Special Needs. I hope to obtain a career in education, preferably with kindergarten or first grade. Eventually, I would like to have my own daycare.

    Why I Joined GK: I joined Golden Key, because I saw how involved my brother was in this organization. I was excited to get involved in the community, volunteer and meet new friends.

    Position: Workshop Coordinator

    Major: Clinical Labratory Science

    Intended Career Goals: I have aspirations is to become a lab specialists and work with different kinds of diseases and hopefully find a cure one day!

    Why I Joined GK: I joined Golden Key to be apart of something special and be more involved on campus!

    Major: Exercise Biology/Pre-Med

    Intended Career Goals: After college, I plan to attend Medical School, where I will pursue a degree in Neonatal.

    Why I Joined GK: I joined Golden Key to become more involved in my community. Establishing unforgettable and life-long friendships was just the bonus!

    Position: Webpage Coordinator

    Major: Economics and Finance/Pre-Law; Minors in Spanish and Political Science

    Intended Career Goals: Following my undergraduate studies, I plan to attend law school. My end goal is to practice civil law and work to bring about change in America's legal system.

    Intended Career Goals: I hope to become a lawyer after completing my education.

    Why I Joined GK: I joined GK because it's an organization with a conscience, and I wanted to be part of a group involved with the community.

    Position: Newsletter Editor Intern

    Major: Mass Communications; Minor in English

    Intended Career Goals: I want to be a writer of fantasy/science fiction novels. I also want to work in the publishing and media industries.

    Why I Joined GK: I was impressed with the first meetings and the induction ceremonies. Everything was organized and professional. The officers were kind and polite. Looking at the brochures, there seemed to be more opportunities for community and volunteer service. I was able to see more leadership options that correlate with my career goals and my studies.

    Position: Co-Advisor and Conference Coordinator

    Major: English

    Intended Career Goals: I've applied for a second Master's degree in Library and Information Sciences and plan on either working in the Library of Congress or as an academic librarian in a university.

    Why I Joined GK: I joined GK because a Co-President at the time was a co-worker of mine and convinced me to attend the Sophomore Recognition event. I went, said I was interested in PR, got the position right then and there, got sent to New Orleans for the conference, and the rest is history. :)

    Pam Davis

    Chapter Advisor

    Pam has been advising the Wright State Chapter of Golden Key for over 16 years and continually opens her door to all members, eager to assist them with their success. She is the Business Manager for Student Affairs located on the 3rd floor of University Hall. Pam has been at Wright State since she obtained her undergraduate degree. She states, "when you see an opportunity for growth, you stick with it to be a part of the success!" Pam commends our officers and members for helping make Golden Key at Wright State one of the strongest chapters in the world, as well as one of the strongest organizations on campus! Her goal is to have her two daughters attend WSU and become Golden Key Officers.
