We began doing it when John Reily Knox and his friends at Miami decided to begin a different kind of fraternity, one based on three principles. And one of those principles calls for you now. Beta chapters are encouraged to select a group or organization which would welcome voluntary assistance, no money involved. Many such organizations need man hours to be successful.

Devoting a portion of one’s time and energy to serving others is considered by many as everyone’s public rent for the privilege of living and enjoying the benefits of a good life in our Canadian and United States communities. As preparation for life after graduation, Betas, individually and as members of their chapters, devote a portion of every academic year to service to their communities, host institutions, neighborhoods and local towns or cities. While some chapters have their own charitable projects, the General Fraternity has endorsed the Children’s Burn Awareness Program, which encourages the chapters to carry the message of the hazards of scalding, electrical and fires in the home to elementary school children.

Delta Phi Betas have provided many hours of service for the National Children’s Burn Awareness charity and the MS Society. Our chapter is devoted to providing service to the University, the Community and to the city of Dayton. Annually, we hold an all day Volleyball Tournament to support our chosen philanthropy as well as many other year round events.

5th Annual Volleyball Tournament

This year's Annual Volleyball Tournament at Wallaby's was major success. Dozens of teams came out to help support the National Children’s Burn Awareness charity. After a few hours of play, the winning team walked away with a $200 cash prize. Teams this year were all co-ed, unlike previous years, but the competition was still fierce as ever.
