4 Paws for Ability, Inc. needs volunteers to help with socialization of animals and taking dogs in public to expose them to people. Also need help with office assistance, cleaning and grooming of the animals. These animals will then be placed with children and adults with developmental disabilities. Flexible schedule available and volunteers of various ages able to assist.
Good Neighbor House needs volunteers to help in the food pantry to stock shelves, organize items and perform general clean-up. Available Tuesday and/or Thursdays. Volunteers also needed to assist clients as they shop for clothing for both themselves and their families. Keep clothing area neat and organized. Perform sorting and hanging of clothes. Flexible schedule available: must commit to once per week, once per month or other pre-arranged schedule during typical business hours and be at least 18 years old.
Resident Home Association needs “friends by choice” volunteers to be a friend to someone with mental retardation. Do you have a few hours a month and are over 18 years of age? Do you like to go to movies, take walks, talk on the telephone, go out to eat, or just sit and talk? Flexible schedule available.
Senior Resource Connection is looking for Retired Senior Volunteer Program volunteers ages 55 and better who are looking for meaningful volunteer assignments working in government and non-profit agencies as well as with community-wide projects throughout the Miami Valley. Flexible schedule is available and mileage reimbursement available with proof of current automobile insurance.
Crayons to Classrooms needs volunteers to assist teachers with check-in procedures at Dayton's new teacher-resource center. Volunteers may also assist with check-out, data input and work in the warehouse sorting and organizing donated school supplies. Flexible schedule available during business hours.
Five Rivers MetroParks needs volunteers to assist with spreading the word about their levy on the ballot this fall. Help with a grassroots campaign involving making phone calls and canvassing to secure a high turnout for fall’s off-year election. Leadership positions are still available. Protect the investment of nature now and for the future. Must be at least 18 years old and no experience necessary. Flexible schedule available.
American Red Cross needs clerical support volunteers at the Preble and Greene County service centers. Tasks include customer service, answering phones, filing and data entry tasks. Training provided and flexible schedules available. Must be at least 18 years old.
Premier Community Health needs front desk volunteer support to answer phone and direct calls to the appropriate office. Also greet visitors. Needed 2nd & 4th Wednesdays each month. From 9:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Must be at least 18 years old.
Dayton International Peace Museum needs adult volunteers to work with a team answering phones, greeting visitors, and monitoring exhibits. Word processing and data entry skills a plus. One day a week, five-to-seven hours. Museum open Wednesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Sunday 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.. Help especially needed on weekends.
Huber Heights English Language Program needs volunteers to teach English to a small class of eager adult students from countries all over the world. Classes are Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9:00 a.m.12:00 p.m.. Each teacher is asked to teach one morning per week. Join a team of teachers who teach separate classes, yet work together to learn and grow.
American Veterans Heritage Association needs volunteers to serve as docents and historians to tell the story of the famous and historic campus buildings. Lead tours by appointment with interested groups or individuals. Appointment times may vary depending upon availability. Training and extensive support provided.
A Special Wish Foundation is looking for a Volunteer Parade Coordinator. The Parade Coordinator would need access to a vehicle to pull the organization's float, oversee transfer and set-up of float, and have a willingness to coordinate participation of wish families for approximately 4 parades per year. Community Blood Center/Community Tissue Services needs a volunteer to help with a special Excel project. Volunteer needed to spend a few hours a week to assist the Lab or Donor offices with simple entries in an Excel spreadsheet. Assistance will allow the updating of a special program and assist hundreds of people in our region. Flexible hours Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Fairborn Senior Center needs volunteers to help set up and clean up for flexible weekly events. Set up includes preparing drinks, place setting, etc. Clean up is clearing tables and washing dishes. Setup is at 9:00 a.m. for 2 hours while clean up is at 1:30 p.m. for approximately 2 hours. Instructions and training provided. Must be at least 25 years old.
