Doors open at 6:30

Join UAB for this special blend of music and entertainment as we proudly present hip-hop violin duo Black Violin.
"We make it a show and give it a theater. We're speaking with the violins and not with our mouths." These are the words of the classically trained, three - time Apollo winning duo Black Violin, whose rhythm leaves listeners completely mesmerized in a hypnotic state. Kev Marcus and Wil-B comprise this dynamic violin-stroking duo that has skillfully revolutionized a new category of classical music with the combination of many genres of music and sounds that have been taking the music industry by storm. Music highlighted will include that by Kanye West, Linkin Park, the Eagles, 50 Cent, Ciara, Aerosmith, and much more.
Black Violin is the winner of the title "2005 Apollo Legends" and subsequently was catapulted to international fame. Since their triumph at the Apollo, Black Violin has toured with Linkin Park's lead singer Mike Shinoda throughout the country and abroad; performed at the NFL Kick off party with 'Diddy;' performed at the Billboard Awards with Alicia Keys; and has been featured on Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, Lil' Kim, and Brooke Hogan's albums; and has been given an award by the Brooklyn Center for Performing Arts for their outstanding contributions to middle and high school performing arts students. The duo has also performed on the "Thank God its Friday" Comedy Tour, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Carson Daly Show, Good Morning Chicago, Fox News In the Morning, BET Black Film Festival, and ESPN's Jax Live Super Bowl Celebration to name a few.
