STUDENT LEADERSHIP RECEPTION INFORMATION

The annual Student Leadership Reception will be Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 7:00 P.M., hosted by The Office of Student Activities in the Apollo Room.  We have streamlined the nomination form and process to make this easier for faculty, staff and student nominators.  If you have questions please contact, Elizabeth Beemer at beemer.3@wright.edu or at 775-5547.

  • Nominations are due NO LATER THAN April 17th, 2009 at 5:00 P.M.
  • Application form and essay is due NO LATER THAN April 30th, 2009 at 5:00 P.M.

COMPLETE THESE REQUIREMENTS TO REGISTER YOUR STUDENT ORGANIZATION FOR 2009 SCHOOL YEAR

SIGN UP FOR SESSION:  Presidents and Treasurers must come in to the Office of Student Activities 019 Student Union or call the Office of Student Activities, 775-5570 to sign up for the session they wish to attend since seating is limited at each.

ATTEND ONE SESSION:  President is required to attend one president training session

                                                Treasurer is required to attend one treasurer training session

                               

REGISTER YOUR ORGANIZATION:  FRIDAY, JUNE 19 at 5 p.m. is the FIRM registration deadline

All organizations must have completed president and treasurers training and correctly and totally completed their registration on OrgSync by Friday, June 19 at 5 p.m.

IF YOUR ORGANIZATION DOES NOT COMPLETE ALL OF THE ABOVE STEPS BY JUNE 19 AT 5 P.M., YOUR GROUP CANNOT PARTICIPATE IN "DO THE U" OR "FALL FEST."

INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF ASTRONOMY

The Wright State University Astronomy Club would like to welcome

GOLDEN KEY INTERNATIONAL HONOUR SOCIETY'S ANNUAL RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE PENNY DRIVE

Golden Key International Honour Society is sponsoring our annual Ronald McDonald House Penny Drive from January 30- May 29. All the participating offices around campus are going to be competing to raise the most money to win a pizza party with Ronald McDonald himself. Also, any office that would like to decorate their own penny drive container is able to win a dessert party. The winners will be announced on Monday, June 6th. "

As a part of the Disney College Program at the Disneyland® Resort in Anaheim, California, or Walt Disney World® Resort near Orlando, Florida, participants can take part in the internship of a lifetime.

While working in front line roles at our Theme Parks and Resorts, participants will network with leaders, learn transferable skills, gain real-world experience, and be a part of a team of Cast Members from hundreds of job disciplines.

Participants on the Disney College Program also custom design a learning curriculum that best suits their needs and interests, complete education courses and specialized learning activities, and can possibly earn college credit while doing so. "

FOURTH ANNUAL GLOBAL HEALTH SYMPOSIUM

In recognition of the growing impact of global health in the United State, the students at the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine founded the Global Health Initiative (GHI) in 2000. GHI's mission is to enhance the education of Wright State's medical students by facilitation their exposure to the medical issues facing people in other countries as well as those of persons in our own country. In doing, it is or goal as an organization to inspire greater compassion, social justice, and empathy within our future physicians. GHI also encourages and provides students with opportunities to travel to developing countries where these issues are most prevalent.

This year we are hosting our fourth annual Global Health Symposium on Thursday April 9th, 2009. This event is open to faculty, staff, students and members of the community. The theme for this event will focus on child slavery and the impact on children's health.
The Symposium will feature a presentation from Ryan and Christine Buccholz, both former Wright State alumni. The Keynote speaker for this year's event will be Jean Robert Cadet, founder of the Restavec Foundation. A former child in Haiti, Jean Robert will speak about his experience as a restavec.
