Frequently Asked Questions:

What is Wright Path?

Pathways to Success is a Wright State University transition program for high school seniors who have applied for fall admission. This program provides potential minority students with a support system consisting of:

  • A link to a family of mentors--student peers, faculty, and staff
  • A link to WSU resources
  • An opportunity to participate in such programs as VISION Mentoring Program, ethnic student organizations, tutoring and other services.

How will Wright Path help me to succeed?
By linking you to Wright Path, the program allows you to form personal relationships with student peers who will help you to establish shared interests, purposes, and a sense of community. Wright Path will provide you with opportunities for interaction with students like you who are success-oriented and determined.

What is the Wright Path to VISION Mentoring Program?

An important feature of VISION Mentoring Program is the student peer mentors group. Student peer mentors are selected for their strong academic and leadership abilities. The are friends, guides, experienced scholars, leaders, and committed members of the WSU community.

In general, the members of the VISION Mentoring Program hold other leadership positions throughout the university.

What is orientation?
During orientation you will learn about academics, procedures, and services. You will choose a learning community, register for fall quarter classes, meet current WSU students, and get acquainted with new classmates. You will learn how to use your WSU computer account and receive your Wright 1 student ID card. We encourage your parents to come along as we welcome you and your family into the WSU community.

All students under the age of 23 who have never attended college are required to attend orientation. You must pre-register to attend. (If you have earned college credits through the Post-Secondary Enrollment Option Program [PSEO] call University College at (937) 775-5771 or (937) 775-5750 for help in determining if SOAR is appropriate for you.)

Placement tests must be completed at least 10 days before you attend orienation (where you’ll meet your advisor and set up your class schedule).

How do I fill out the FAFSA?
To initiate the financial aid award process, the student must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA form must be completed every year with updated federal tax information, and can be submitted as early as January 1st, prior to the start of the upcoming aid year. Wright State University's priority deadline date for submitting the FAFSA is February 15th. The priority deadline date is used in determining your eligibility for federal campus-based funds [Federal Perkins Loan, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), Federal Work-Study, and Federal Nursing Student Loan]. A student will not be notified about financial aid unless a FAFSA form is filed.

Submitting a FAFSA is a free process. File your FAFSA online at FAFSA on the Web. Do not pay to have an agency file your FAFSA for you. If you have questions regarding the FAFSA contact our office for assistance, or call the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-433-3243.

When do I get my housing assignments?
Soon you will have the ability to login to H.O.M.E. to check the status of your housing application, assignment, change your address, update your roommate request, and more! Additional information about housing options, rates, and important dates will also be available in the “Application Information” link inside of your H.O.M.E. Welcome Page.
H.O.M.E. allows us to more efficiently make housing assignments for our students.
