Get to Know Katie

What are your hobbies/interests?
I like reading and writing, especially anything in the fantasy. I also like baking, rock climbing, and photography.

What language(s) do you speak?
I speak English and know some Mandarin.

How would you describe your personality?
I'm fairly easy going and on the more introverted side. I've been told I'm a good listener and reliable. I'm creative and hardworking, and I enjoy being able to get to know people.

What experience do you have as a mentor?
I have been a peer coach with the Peer Success Program since the Spring 2020 semester. One of my favorite experiences as a mentor has been getting to know my mentees. I've been able to talk with some as a friend, not just a mentee, and talk with them about mutual interests like movies or books but also learn about new things like longboarding or painting.

What are you passionate about?
I'm passionate about creative writing, and I've actually finished a couple of novels. It's been an interest since I was little and now I really enjoy writing as a way to de-stress. I also love volunteering, especially with park cleanups or when volunteering with Habitat for Humanity.
