Commuter Parking

Student Involvement and Leadership recognizes the unique needs and challenges of commuter students and advocates on their behalf. We partner with campus partners such as Residence Life and Housing, Hospitality Services, Public Safety, and Parking and Transportation to provide you with a positive and memorable student experience.

Wright State's campus is like a small city—there is always something going on and we encourage you to be part of the action. You will find convenient parking and a variety of resources to help you get to and around campus. Come early, stay late, and make the most of your time on campus. 

Want to save money on the cost of your commute? Consider carpooling with friends and roommates. Listen to the campus radio station, WWSU 106.9FM, on the way to campus and grab breakfast at one of our many dining options. 

Parking

Wright State's Parking and Transportation provides various parking options throughout campus.

If you are a commuter student, you can buy a C parking permit for:

  • White-lined spaces Lots 1, 1a, 4, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, and 18
  • Unrestricted spaces in Wright State Nutter Center Lots 1–9, except during scheduled events
  • Yellow-lined employee spaces from 4 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends unless otherwise posted

You are not guaranteed parking in your preferred lot. During busy times, between 10 a.m. and noon on weekdays, the university recommends the use of Lot 4, where most of the student parking is located. Please note: Public Safety officers monitor all lots year-round. Officers are also available for safety and motorist assistance at 937-775-2111.

When parking your car on campus, remember to practice recommended security tips. Visit the iCommute Resource Hub for additional resources.

All existing commuter and residential student permits issued for 2020 or 2021 will remain valid through December 31, 2021. Lost permits can be reissued for a $15 replacement fee in the Customer Care Center, 065 Allyn Hall, from 7 a.m.–3:30 p.m., Monday–Friday.

Students without an existing permit may purchase a Fall 2021 commuter and residential student permit for $48.

Shuttles

Wright State is serviced by various shuttling options to get you to, from, and around the Dayton Campus, including our own Raider Ride.

RTA Service

Greater Dayton RTA buses run from downtown Dayton to Wright State and from downtown to many other destinations. RTA transportation passes and schedules are available at the Barnes & Noble Bookstore, 182 Student Union. The RTA's phone number is 937-425-8300. The RTA bus that services the Dayton Campus is #1. All buses feature bike racks and meet ADA accessibility guidelines.

Greene CATS

Open to the general public, Greene CATS Public Transit provides two services:

  1. Scheduled rides that pick up and drop off riders at any location within Greene County and with limited service to Montgomery County from Monday to Sunday, 6 a.m.–9 p.m.
  2. Flex routes have scheduled stops that link the Greene County communities of BeavercreekFairbornXenia, and Yellow Springs. You can board an RTA bus at Wright State's Student Union Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. You can request a change to a flex route up to 1/2 of a mile at least two business days in advance. Call the scheduling office between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.

All buses feature bike racks mounted on the front of the bus for carrying bicycles and meet ADA accessibility guidelines.

Raider Ride

During Fall and Spring Semesters, Monday through Friday, the Raider Ride buses provide campus transportation on multiple routes. Shuttle service is not available during university-observed holidays and breaks or during Summer Semester.
