Counseling and Wellness Services Fees

Beginning Fall Semester, 2019, you will notice a “Counseling and Wellness Services Fee” on your University bill.  This fee is an optional fee (much like the Student Legal Fee).  If you pay the $20 CWS Fee, you will be able to receive mental health services (counseling, psychological assessment and psychiatric services) at CWS at no cost.  You will also be able to receive Life Coaching Services offered by CWS (a new service) at no cost.  IF YOU DO NOT PAY THE COUNSELING AND WELLNESS SERVICES FEE, YOU WILL BE ASSESSED A FEE OF $20 PER SESSION FOR MENTAL HEALTH, PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT, PSYCHIATRIC AND/OR LIFE COACHING SERVICES.  There will be no waiver of session fees under the new system.

Missed Session FeesA missed session occurs when a client (1) does not show for their session, (2) notifies their therapist that they will miss their session with less than 24-hours’ notice, or (3) they arrive more than 15 minutes late for their scheduled appointment without prior arrangement.

A $20 missed session fee for the following types of sessions:

  • Intake Assessment
  • Individual Therapy
  • Couples Therapy
  • Group Therapy
  • Sports Psychology and Performance Enhancement Therapy
  • Pre-Group meeting
  • Group Debriefing
  • Wait list check in appointments (these are brief appointments that clients may be offered to clients on the waitlist)
  • Psychological Assessment Sessions (assessed per appointment, not per hour)
  • Psychiatric Intake
  • Psychiatric Medication Management
  • Life Coaching Sessions

All fees are billed through the Bursar’s office as a “Health Service Fee.”
