  • Sexual Orientation added to University Equal Opportunity in Education statement

1991

  • Lambda Union (later named Rainbow Alliance) established as a gay and lesbian student organization

1992

  • Gay and Lesbian Faculty/Staff and their supporters lobby President Paige Mulhollan for Domestic Partner Benefits with 40 page report from The Health Benefits Subcommittee on Domestic Partners

1994

  • Report from The Health Benefits Subcommittee on Domestic Partners forwarded to the University Budget Review Committee, progress stalls after resignation of President Paige Mulhollan​
  • Gay and Lesbian Subcommittee established as part of the Campus Climate Committee and identifies Domestic Partner Benefits as their #1 priority

1996

  • Allies, the organization of Gay and Lesbian faculty/staff and their supporters formed
  • President Harvey Flack meets with forty members of Allies, the organization of Gay and Lesbian faculty/staff and their supporters to listen about concerns on the lack of Domestic Partnership Benefits progress and other climate issues for Gay and Lesbian faculty/staff

1998

  • Allies, the organization of Gay and Lesbian faculty/staff and their supporters discontinues face to face meetings (1998) but continues as a University listserv (present) coordinated by Dr. Cheryl Meyer, Professor, School of Professional Psychology
  • Dr. Charles Derry, Professor, Department of Theatre Arts; Coordinator, Motion Pictures Area submits an Appeal on Domestic Partners Benefits to President Kim Goldenberg and Provost Perry Moore

2004

  • Lambda Union (Rainbow Alliance), a gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender student organization, presents first annual Drag Show on campus
  • Lambda Union, a gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender student organization, changes name to Rainbow Alliance
  • Gay Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender (GLBT) Safe Space and Panel Program established by Rainbow Alliance

2007

  • Wright State University participated in LGBT-Friendly Campus Climate Index National Assessment Tool and receives 3.5/5 stars (http://www.campusclimateindex.org/)
  • Two single use restroom and changing/showering/locker rooms added to Recreation Center in the Student Union

2008

  • Sex (Gender Identity/Expression) added to University Equal Opportunity in Education statement
  • Gay Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning and Ally (GLBTQA) Safe Space and Panel programs revitalized as campus training program by collaborative team from Beta Beta, Live, Rainbow Alliance, Counseling & Wellness, Office of Student Activities and the Women’s Center

2009

  • Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning and Ally (GLBTQA) University website launched (www.wright.edu/glbtqa)
  • Domestic Partnership Benefits established under the leadership of President David Hopkins and Provost Steven Angle

2011

  • Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning and Ally Resource Room grand opening in the Student Union 016 as a collaborative project of Rainbow Alliance, Student Government, Counseling & Wellness, Office of Student Activities and the Women’s Center
  • Allies: Organization for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning and Ally (GLBTQA) Faculty & Staff re-established with weekly face-to-face meetings
  • Gender-neutral housing established on-campus by Residence Services
  • First part-time staff member (graduate assistant) hired for GLBTQA Initiatives by Student Affairs
  • Diversity change organization Out For Work awarded Career Services a Bronze Certificate through their Career Center Certification Program, designed to enhance lesbian, gay, bisexual transgender, and queer specific resources in academic career centers across the United States.

2012

  • TAIGA (Trans, Agender, Intersex, Genderqueer, and Allies) student committee established
  • Allies: Organization for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning and Ally (GLBTQA) Faculty & Staff lobby for equity in Domestic Partner Benefits

2013

  • Universal Restroom (gender-neutral) added in Allyn Hall next to The Hangar.
  • Diversity change organization Out For Work awarded Career Services a Gold Certificate through their Career Center Certification Program, designed to enhance lesbian, gay, bisexual transgender, and queer specific resources in academic career centers across the United States.
  • Wright State University participated in LGBT-Friendly Campus Climate Index National Assessment Tool and overall score increases to 4.5/5 stars (http://www.campusclimateindex.org/)

2014

  • $10,000 fundraising mark reached to establish GLBTQA Student Scholarship
  • Black Rainbow Coalition forms as a student organization
  • Allies receives $7,500 grant from Equality Ohio to bring Laverne Cox, Transgender Activist, to campus for a Presidential Lecture with 1500 in attendance

2015

  • LGBTQA Affairs Office created as part of the Division of Multicultural Affairs and Community Engagement by Dr. Kimberly Barrett, Vice President
  • LGBTQA Affairs Director hired. Office of LGBTQA Affairs is staffed by full-time Director and one Graduate Assistant.
  • Language & Acronym shifts from Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning & Ally (GLBTQA) to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer & Ally (LGBTQA).
  • GLBTQA Resource Room is honored and Celebrates 5 year Anniversary

2016

  • GLBTQA Resource Room transitions to become the LGBTQA Community Engagement Room (a service maintained and supported by the Office of LGBTQA Affairs)
