The Comprehensive Winners List of the Amigos Latinos Awards

Announcing All Winners of the 2015 Amigos Latinos Awards

With the Second Annual Amigos Latinos Gala coming up, we here at the Office of Latino Affairs can’t help but feel a sense of pride and excitement in expressing our gratitude to those that have helped us become what we are today.

The “Los Fundadores” Pioneer Awards were given to Grace Ramos and Robert Sweeney for their commitment, drive, and support. We would not be able to exist without all the hard work they have done for us.

“El Amigo Del Pueblo” Community Awards were given to Sister Mary F. Stacy, Major Pedro Juan Muños, Dr. Maria Elena Jimenez, and Joselito Gracia for their community engagement and help in expanding our scope, connecting us to the Latino community.

The winners of the “El Profe” Faculty Awards, Dr. Damaris Serrano, Dr. Labib Rouhana, and Dr. Mike Saville, have given our office and our students an incredible amount of support to succeed.

For “La Amiga Querida” Staff Awards, Iris Mirelez and Julia Acosta have shown their loyalty and support in connecting our students to many opportunities in the community.

Not only do our community, faculty, and staff do so much for us, but also extraordinary students have shown their passion in making our office and its message a success.

Estrella Alvarez and Ryan Rushing received our “El Jefe” Student Leadership Award for their drive and dedication.

Lastly, Stephanie Patiño Garfias was awarded the Melissa Ortiz-Bebbington Memorial Scholarship for her work in being socially conscious, involved in the Latino community, and continuing Melissa Ortiz's legacy of empowering the community and expanding Latino success.

We look forward to honoring these individuals at our Second Annual Amigos Latinos Gala, where we will celebrate the progress our office has made in its first year at Wright State University.
