Academic Affairs

The educational and training philosophy of the SOPP explicitly emphasizes generalist training at the doctoral level. Accordingly, the faculty have designed course work, clinical practica, and other educational experiences to give students broad exposure to theoretical models, clinical skills, and professional roles that prepare students for the current and future practice of psychology.

The SOPP's curriculum has been organized around competency areas fundamental to the practice of psychology: relationship, assessment, intervention, basic science/research and evaluation, consultation/education, management/supervision, and diversity. SOPP students demonstrate mastery of the seven core competencies as they proceed through course work and their clinical practicum training.

The Office of Academic Affairs for the School of Professional Psychology at Wright State University assists both students and faculty with a variety of academic resources. There are many documents posted on the Wings SOPP Group that provide students with 24/7 access to book list, class schedules, syllabi. Most policies and request forms are also posted on the SOPP Group. Please let us know if you have questions regarding directed studies, dissertation chair changes, registration changes, or any other course related concerns.
