Policy and Procedures for Students with Disabilities
Wright State University and the School of Professional Psychology are
committed to providing reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities
who are subject to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)*. Students
may enter the SOPP program with a disability; students may also develop
a disability while matriculating in the program. Procedures for documenting
a disability and obtaining reasonable accommodation are as follows.
Students entering the SOPP program who believe they have a disability
subject to the ADA, and/ or students who believe they may need accommodation,
should immediately contact the University's Office of Disability Services (ODS), E186 Student Union, (937) 775-5680; TTY: (937) 775-5844. The
ODS will evaluate the student's needs and recommend reasonable accommodation
to the SOPP. When students contact the ODS, they should state at initial
contact that they are students at SOPP. This will ensure that their
client files are kept confidential in the event that other SOPP students
are working in the ODS on practicum or internship placements or are,
in any other way, involved in supervised clinical experiences at the
ODS. In any event, it is the responsibility of the student, not the
SOPP, to contact the ODS to obtain recommendations concerning reasonable
accommodations for disabilities subject to the ADA.
