The Professional Team

The professional staff of the program include: Robert N. Basil, Psy.D. as the Program Director, with Mark Zangara, M.A. as Clinical Supervisor, Darlene Zangara, M.A. as Assistant Clinical Supervisor and Barbara Dunaway, C.T., C.I. as Interpreter Supervisor. Dr. Basil is a licensed clinical psychologist who has been working the field of deafness since 1986. Ms. Zanagara is a Professional Counselor who is deaf herself and author of the "Me Too" program, a drug and alcohol education program for deaf children and adolescents. She has been working in the mental health field since 1990. Mr. Zangara is the mental health counselor at the Ohio School for the Deaf. He has been working with mental health deaf clients since 1989. Ms. Dunaway is certified in both transliteration and interpreting. She has been working with the deaf community since 1987. She also is a "SPODA," a spouse of a deaf adult.

Robert Basil


Dr. Basil is a clinical psychologist licensed by the state of Ohio. He has been working to provide services to the deaf and hard-of-hearing communities since 1986. He is a graduate of the School of Professional Psychology at Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio. In addition to administrating the Mental Health and Deafness Program, Dr. Basil also provides psychological services at the Comprehensive Counseling Service in Middletown, where he works with his sister-in-law, Nancy Basil, a comprehensively certified interpreter, to provide services to the deaf community.
