The Ellis Human Development Institute opened in the fall of 1989. Located at 9 North Edwin C. Moses Boulevard in Dayton, Ohio, the training mission, the range of services offered at the institute, its location within a major urban renewal area, and the administration of the facility by the School of Professional Psychology have set the Ellis Institute apart from any other facility in the state of Ohio, and possibly within the United States.

The primary goals of the Institute are to provide and train for the next generation of practicing psychologists, and to assist in meeting individual and community needs to overcome human problems and promote human effectiveness through utilization of the clinical and educational resources of the Wright State University School of Professional Psychology.

The successful candidate for the position will:  have a doctorate degree in psychology from an APA-accredited program, as well as an internship in psychology; be eligible for licensure to practice psychology in the state of Ohio; and have leadership experience within a community-based mental health/behavioral health care setting and in the development of services to underserved urban and ethnic minority groups.

The Executive Director will be responsible for:

Management and Development – The Executive Director will manage the Ellis Human Development Institute’s daily operations; facilitate collaboration among faculty and program directors in the development and expansion of the Institute; and design and develop clinical services to fit the service needs of the community, requirements of external funders, and training needs of clinical students.

Community Relations – The Executive Director will serve as the representative of the Ellis Human Development Institute in its relations with the local, professional, and academic communities.  In this capacity, the Executive Director will develop an advisory board for the Institute and its programs.

Fiscal Management and Fund Development – The Executive Director will be responsible for developing new funding sources and managing the Ellis Institute’s third-party reimbursements by such sources as Medicare/Medicaid, Alcohol and Drug Abuse funding, and other third-party funders, including the local ADAMHS Board and state-level funding sources.  Additionally, the Executive Director will oversee CARF compliance, develop contracts, and participate in fund raising.

Additional Responsibilities:

Clinical Teaching and Scholarship – The Executive Director will be involved in limited teaching, advising, and committee activities and be responsible for organizing applied scholarship through various research data collection and program evaluation projects.

Other duties as ascribed by the Dean of the School of Professional Psychology – The Executive Director will report directly to the Dean.
