Curriculum Vitae Outline

These are typical sections and order. You may have additional sections (e.g. research) to reflect your unique experiences. Use reverse chronological order, i.e., most recent first.

Identifying Information

  • Name. Do not include Bachelor’s degree designations after your name. Do include graduate and professional degrees, e.g., MS, M.Ed., and JD.
  • Address
  • Telephone
  • E-mail, Fax if personal number available

Education (if no degree, indicate dates of attendance)

  • Start with WSU, SOPP. You are now a Candidate for the PsyD degree in Clinical Psychology SOPP is an APA accredited program
  • List other degrees/ schools in reverse order. Include all education since Bachelor’s degree
  • Mention any honors associated with degree, e.g., graduated cum laude
  • You may list thesis and dissertations here

Military Experience (active or retired, rank)

Licenses (for independent practice, e.g., LPC, LCSW, RN)

Clinical Training (could be of several types including practicum, volunteer experience and paid work)

              Practicum Training (Supervisored clinical work associate with degree program. Include Bachelor's level work only for formal training that was supervised by a mental health professional and that is relevant for current educ ation, training, and goals)

    • Label Master’s vs. SOPP Doctoral practicum
    • Indicate the type of setting, e.g., rural community mental health center
    • Briefly describe clinical activities, populations seen, diagnostic groups, etc.
    • Note any special accomplishments, e.g., Selected to provide staff training on CBT for GAD in children
    • Include dates of participation, total hours service or anticipated
    • Include name of supervisor, highest degree and credentials, e.g., Jane Doe, PsyD, ABPP; or Jane Doe, LCSW, not Dr. Jane Doe
    • Do not include Practice Tutorial, PSY 908

              Volunteer Clinical Work (Unpaid clinically realted work that was not practicum or otherwise required)

    • Use practicum training format to describe any work

              Clinical Employment

Teaching Experience

  • List courses taught by name, date, level (undergraduate or graduate) and institutionposter or paper once and beneath the tile, list where and when presented
  • Include clinical GAs

Other Work Experience

  • Important work experience not covered above
  • This would be helpful for student who are change of career persons
  • If you have many years experience in another field, summarize so as not to overshadow your clinical psychology focus

School and Community Service

  • Include SOPP and WSU Committees, e.g., SGA and SGA assisgnments, like 2nd year representative to the Clinical Training Committee
  • Include community volunteer work you might want to highlight, e.g., local hospice camp, make-a-wish foundation

Publications/Presentations (can be separate sections if you have several in each category)

  • If a poster or paper carrying the same title was presented at more than one place, list the poster or paper once and beneath the tile, list where and when presented
  • Use APA format.

Professional Memberships (e.g., APA, OPA, ABCT, etc.)

  • Indicate your status, e.g., student affiliate, associate member

Awards (not mentioned under Education, e.g., school fellowships, work commendations)

Special Competencies/Interests (e.g., second language, unique hobby)
