Meet Sierra Butler

Sierra_RES_32.jpgSierra grew up in Dayton, and chose Sinclair College to start her post-secondary education. At Sinclair, Sierra majored in political science and earned an associate degree. Before graduating, Sierra attended a transfer fair at Sinclair College and was drawn to the Wright State table. The rest, as she says, “is history.”

Why Wright State?

Now a junior majoring in psychology, Sierra feels that Wright State has been a good fit, “It's been good for me because I have learned how to be independent. I don't have anyone asking me if I did my homework or assignments,” she says. "My professors know their subject matter and make it important to me."

Definitely fitting in at Wright State, Sierra lives in campus housing, volunteers as a Transfer Ambassador, and is a part of the Ohio STEM Ability Alliance (OSAA). Sierra has also worked the Phonathon at Wright State. She feels that experience relates to her psychology major, and gives her the opportunity to speak with alumni who can share their experience at Wright State. “Some of them received a degree in psychology, so we discuss what they did with their degree.”

If she gets her “dream job,” Sierra will use her degree as a clinical/mental health counselor.

We’re pulling for her!
