Admission to the College
All
students who are interested in a degree in business administration should
apply through Wright State University's Office
of Undergraduate Admissions. When applying, students should indicate
on the degree application their preferred major within the college. Students
are required to complete the program of study that is in effect at the
time of their admission to the Raj Soin College of Business. Specific
requirements for admission to the college are listed below. These admission
requirements are determined by the faculty and are subject to change.
Admission from
University College and Other WSU Colleges
The college
has a two-tier admission process. Students in University College or another
unit of WSU must meet the following Tier I requirements to transfer to
the College of Business:
Tier I:
- ENG 101 and 102,
with a letter grade of "C" or better,
- MTH 128 or 129
(or higher-level math course), with a letter grade of "C"
or better,
- 2.5 minimum cumulative
grade point average,
- 45 credit hours
earned.
Enrollment in upper-level
business courses is restricted to students who have been admitted to the
college, completed the Tier II requirements, and attained junior standing.
This is to ensure that students have the appropriate prerequisites and
an adequate foundation for their professional course work in business.
In the quarter that
the last Tier II requirements are scheduled, students will automatically
be transferred from a pre-business to a business major number, permitting
enrollment in 300-level business courses. Students that find this has
not occurred, and they are restricted from registering for the 300-level
courses should contact the advising office immediately. The following
is the list of Tier II requirements:
Tier II:
- ACC 204, 205
- EC 204, 205
- MS 204, 205
- MTH 228
- CS 205
Transfer StudentsTransfer
students seeking admission to the Raj Soin College of Business must also
satisfy the criteria for Wright State University students that are listed
above.Acceptable
transfer credit will satisfy any of the above requirements.
Returning Students
Students
who return to WSU after being absent for four or more quarters must reapply
for admission and satisfy the same admission requirements listed above
for current WSU students. Returning students will be required to complete
the program requirements that are in effect at the time of their readmission
to the College of Business.
Advising
Program
Advisors
Program
advisors are available in the Dean's Office (110 Rike Hall) to help students
plan their program of study. Students receive a list of their general
education and major degree requirements when they are admitted to the
college. Students are required to meet with an advisor to review these
requirements and sign the requirements check sheets. Advisor signatures
are not required for registration each quarter, but students are encouraged
to see an advisor at least once a year to ensure they are on schedule
for their projected graduation date. Advisors may also provide help with
procedural or academic problems.
Faculty Advisors
Students
will be assigned a faculty advisor based on their major and career interests.
Faculty advisors can discuss career opportunities and career planning,
recommend major and business electives, and discuss the curriculum of
their major field. A list of faculty advisors is available in the advising
office, and in each of the department offices in the college.
Academic Probation
Students
whose cumulative grade point average falls below the 2.0 required for
graduation from the university will be placed on academic probation. While
on academic probation, students can enroll in only four courses. If a
student's grade point average remains below 2.0 for three consecutive
quarters, the student is subject to dismissal. Students on academic probation
should meet with an advisor each quarter before registering.
