Foundation courses are designed for students who do not have an undergraduate degree in business and for students with a bachelor’s degree in business who need to update their skills and knowledge in one of the following four areas.

    Economics Required:

    EC 709 - Applied Econometrics
    Application of economic theory, mathematical modeling, and statistics to the measurement and forecasting of economic relationships. Emphasis is on specification, estimation, and hypothesis testing.
    EC 715 - Applied Microeconomics
    Emphasis on advanced microeconomics applications in consumption/work decisions of households, production/pricing strategies of firms, and public policy toward businesses. Special attention paid to the roles of labor unions/not-for-profit firms.
    EC 717 - Applied Macroeconomics
    Emphasis in on modern views on fiscal and monetary policy in an open economy. Interrelationships between interest rates, unemployment, economic growth, inflation, and balance of payments are highlighted.

Finance:

FIN 710 - Investment Management Concepts, theories, and techniques underlying the development of investment policies and strategies.
Prerequisite: MBA 730.
FIN 742 - Seminar in Financial Management Advanced treatment of the theory and practice of long-term financial management. Topics include dividends, leasing, hybrid financing, derivatives and risk management, mergers and acquisitions, and divestitures.
Prerequisite: MBA 730.
FIN 790 - Seminar in International Financial Management Advanced treatment of the concepts and techniques of international financial management.
Prerequisite: MBA 730.

CMH 734-Health Systems Management
This survey course introduces an advanced understanding of health systems. Topics include: health economics, population-based approaches to health care, how health systems operate, strategic assessment, macroeconomics, principles of capitation and risk, budgeting and finance, health business professionalism and principles of quality.
EC 755-The Economics of Health and Health Policy
Sessions focus on the market for health care and its financing, the role of government, the impact of innovation, incentives for quality and economic evaluation. This investigation introduces underlying economic theory, emphasizes real-world examples and incorporates a discussion of current health care and public health policy issues.
CMH 754-Strategic Leadership in Health Care
This course introduces students to concepts, principles and practices of strategic management in health care settings. Topics include: negotiation, leadership, organizational design, organizational culture, strategic plan development and stakeholder and SWOT analyses.
FIN 750-Health Care Finance
This course starts with an introduction to basic financial management concepts and delves into health care–specific topics, including: accounting and financial statement interpretation; risk, return, time value of money; capital decision making; operational and capital budgeting; risk analysis; tactical alternative analysis; and forecasting.
CMH 744-Population-Based Management
This course presents techniques of epidemiology and biostatistics to evaluate population-based health programs as they can be practiced in public health, prevention and health care quality management settings.

International Business:

FIN 790 - Seminar in International Financial Management
Advanced treatment of the concepts and techniques of international financial management. Prerequisite: MBA 730.
MKT 716 - International Marketing
Introduces the concepts and language of international marketing and examines institutional, behavioral, and managerial aspects of a cross section of national marketing systems and multinational organization operations.
MGT 721- International Management
To increase individual and group understanding of the multiple factors that impact international management decisions. Develop a comparative global understanding about doing business in major regions of the world.

Management, Innovation and Change:

MGT 706 - Organizational Development and Change
Organization development is presented as an ongoing change process that must be planned and managed. A variety of interventions are explained, and situations are analyzed to determine effectiveness.
Prerequisite: MBA 750.
MGT 721- International Management
To increase individual and group understanding of the multiple factors that impact international management decisions. Develop a comparative global understanding about doing business in major regions of the
world.
MGT 766 - Managing for Creativity and Innovation
Course addresses importance of innovation to organizations, common impediments to innovation, and ways organizations can stimulate, cultivate and implement creative ideas.

Marketing :

MKT 705 - Integrated Marketing Communications
Study of the promotional components of an integrated marketing communications plan, development and implementation of promotional and integration strategies and tactics.
MKT 707 - Marketing Research and Analysis
Understanding the marketing research function in both a basic and an applied sense with emphasis on the concepts, methods, and techniques currently employed in its use as a tool of management.
MKT 716 - International Marketing
Introduces the concepts and language of international marketing and examines institutional, behavioral, and managerial aspects of a cross section of national marketing systems and multinational organization operations.

Project Management:

MGT 770 - Fundamentals of Project Management
Concepts and philosophies are developed by which modern management deals with one-time projects/tasks that have a set of specified time, cost, and performance objectives.
MGT 772 - Project Contract Management
Overview of the role of contracting and contract administration in contemporary society. Analysis and synthesis of the relationship of contracting to the project management system.
Prerequisite: MGT 770.
MGT 773 - Project Management and Control Techniques
Examines project management techniques that are currently available to aid in planning, estimating, scheduling, and controlling a project from inception to completion. Current project management software is used and/or demonstrated.
Prerequisite: MGT 770.

Flexible Business

Required: 12 hours of 700-level courses from the Raj Soin College of Business.
