Admissions

ALL degree-seeking applicants for admission to the MBA program MUST:

  1. Complete the ´Application for Admission to a Graduate Status° form  and then submit the form to the School of Graduate Studies (SOGS), Wright State University (WSU).
  2. Pay the appropriate degree status application fee.
  3. Submit official undergraduate and graduate transcripts from all colleges/universities attended (other than WSU) to the SoGS, WSU.
  4. Direct Educational Testing Service (ETS) to submit an official score report of the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) to the SoGS, WSU.
  5. Submit a resume with work experience (including military experience), college and community activities, voluntary services, honors or awards received, and the name, address and telephone number of at least two references to the SoGS, WSU.

International applicants MUST also provide, in addition to the above documents:

  1. Direct ETS to submit an official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score report to WSU.
  2. Complete and send the Financial Statement Information form to the University Center for International Education (UCIE), WSU.

The admission file will be sent to the College of Business and Administration (COBA) for an admission recommendation once all of the above have been received by the SoGS (domestic applicants) or the UCIE (international applicants). The COBA reco mmends regular admission only for those applicants that show high promise for successful completion of the MBA program. The admission recommendation is based on a variety of criteria.

The admission committee operationalizes the standard as follows:
"high promise" =

  • high, balanced admission index
  • consistently high undergraduate GPA or an upward trend in undergraduate GPA
  • high, balanced GMAT
  • strong graduate GPA
  • strong, balanced TOEFL
  • strong analytical writing score on the GMAT
  • experience of increasing responsibility, leadership, or variety

"for successful completion" =

  • student will consistently, from the first quarter to the last, maintain high (3.0 graduate GPA ) academic standards in all course work undertaken
  • student will graduate with the MBA degree within the five year time limit

"of the MBA program" =

  • admission is specific to the MBA program. Admission or denial to another program has no bearing on the MBA admission decision.
  • taking and passing graduate business courses while in another program or admission status is not, in and of itself, a demonstration of high promise
