Class Notes

   Stephen P. Donovan (B.S., ’70) is serving as Audit Manager for Federal Reserve Bank in Cleveland, Ohio. In this capacity, Donovan manages financial and operational audit programs covering the following areas of the bank: Accounting, Check Processing, Electronic Payments, Supervision & Regulation, Credit Risk Management, Data Services, Savings Bond Clearing, and Economic Research. He also is charged with reducing bureaucracy and promoting staff empowerment. He directly supervises a staff of six. Prior to joining Federal Reserve Bank, Donovan worked for KeyCorp for 12 years, first as regional auditor in Dayton, then as vice president and regional auditor in the Toledo office. He was then promoted to vice president and senior manager for KeyCorp’s Cleveland office.
 

Mary C. Drennen (BS, ‘73) is the Senior Marketing Manager on Abbott's ZonePerfect Nutrition business. She took over marketing responsibilities for the brand with the acquisition in August 2003. Prior to that she was responsible for new products marketing. She received her B.S. in Marketing from WSU and is an active contributor to the WSU Marketing Department fund and the alumni "wall of honor." Mary has also supported the WSU Raj Soin College of Business as a participant in the College’s annual Student-Alumni Connections event. As a former WSU varsity Tennis player, she also supports the athletic programs and still is an active tennis player, bicyclist and masters' competitive rower.
 

Robert J. Duplain (MBA ‘74) is the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for FKI Logistex Automation, Inc.  In this position, Duplain is responsible for all financial operations, human resources, information systems, and legal services.  In the fall of 2003 he assumed leadership of the company's sourcing activities for its three midwestern plants.  The common thread with all of Duplain's responsibilities is the desire to lead and the ability to successfully communicate with the company's internal and external audiences.  Duplain's leadership has helped FKI Logistex Automation, a capital goods manufacturer, maintain profitability and positive cash flow even with reduced sales volume and the competitive pressures of the past two years.

 

Shannon Yvette Griffin (B.S. ‘02) is Information Technology Specialist for the United State Air Force Enterprise Information (EIM) Program. She began her civilian career as a PALACE Acquire Intern at WPAFB. The PALACE Acquire (PAQ) Program is a “fast track” program focusing on developing high-potential, enthusiastic, and professional individuals, offering the opportunity to excel and eventually become a top civilian leader in the Air Force. Shannon notes that her fellow alumni will be proud to know that several Wright State graduates have joined this program. “I learned of this program through WSU'S Career Services office. Shannon is also active in a number of professional associations including: the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Dayton Alumni Extension, the Wright State University Alumni Association and the Black Data Processing Association (BDPA)
 

Russ Harris (BS ’72, MS ‘73) a consultant with the Ohio Education Association for 16 years, is currently serving on Governor Bob Taft’s Blue Ribbon Task Force on Financing Student Success.  Prior to his work with the Association in governmental services, Harris served as an expert witness and case manager of several state school finance cases nationwide.  He was a Ford Foundation Fellow at Syracuse University, and served as the director of school finance for the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
 

Ann K. Hopkins (BS ’75, MBA ’81) is the administrator for Samaritan North Health Center in Dayton, the outpatient center of Good Samaritan Hospital.  Hopkins is responsible for the operations at the 303,000-square-foot outpatient center, as well as the radiology, physical therapy and outpatient services offered at Good Samaritan Hospital.  Her achievements include the implementation of a highly successful strategic plan for world-class diagnostic services at Samaritan North Health Center.  Due to her focus on creating a culture of customer satisfaction, Samaritan North has reported a customer satisfaction rating above the 90th percentile for five years
 

James Lance (B.S. ‘96) was named Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer of BonTon, effective November 2003.  Lance now reports to James H. Baireuther, Vice Chairman and Chief Administrative Officer.  Prior to joining BonTon, Lance was Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer, for The Elder-Beerman Stores Corp. of Dayton, Ohio. He was with Elder-Beerman for 33 years, beginning his career in systems development, and serving in a number of development and management roles before being named Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer, in 1987. Lance is a graduate of Wright State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management.  He was recently appointed as a founding member of Wright State’s Information Systems Advisory Board.
 

Pavan Mediratta (BS ‘93), the senior director of marketing communications for LexisNexis, is responsible for the long-term planning and execution of integrated communications programs for the corporation’s North American legal market.  In 2004, Mediratta’s strategic advertising and promotional campaigns garnered LexisNexis 10 ADDY Awards, including two prestigious Gold ADDY/Hermes Awards, from the Dayton Ad Club.  Additionally, Focus, the LexisNexis monthly online employee newsletter was awarded the highest honor from the Dayton/Miami Valley Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).  And for two years in a row, lexisnexis.com has been awarded Forbes "Best of The Web" distinction.  Before joining LexisNexis in 1997, Mediratta spent eight years as a public-sector IT consultant.  He serves on the Board of Directors for ThinkTV and also on WSU Raj Soin College of Business’ Department of Information Systems and Operations Management Advisory Board.
 

Donna Poseidon (MBA ‘84) was recently named as Chief of Staff for Worldwide Customer Service at NCR in Dayton.  In this new position, Poseidon oversees the division’s global Marketing organization and select other global staff functions to drive consistent execution around the world.  In addition, Poseidon provides project management support for select human resources initiatives.  Before taking this new position, Poseidon held leadership roles in service and product marketing, strategic planning, pricing and marketing communications.  Poseidon celebrates her 25th service anniversary with NCR this year.
