His article, “Lump Sum Beats Dollar-Cost Averaging” (1993), which he co-authored with Richard Williams in 1993, has just been selected by the Journal of Financial Planning as one of the best articles of the past twenty-five years and will be republished in a special anniversary edition.  Dr. Bacon has also served as a consultant for a variety of business firms and nonprofits such as Bank One, Robbins and Myers, Inc., IDS, City of Dayton, and City Wide Development Corporation.  In addition, Dr. Bacon served on the Board of Examiners for the International Board of Standard and Practices of Certified Financial Planners.

"What’s kept me energized during my career has been the opportunity to work with and be challenged by outstanding students.  The best students at Wright State are as good as the best students at any top business school in the country."
