Dr.
Talbott Receives WSU Trustees’ Award for Faculty Excellence
The Wright State University Board of Trustees
selected John Talbott, Ph.D., professor of accountancy, winner
of the Trustees’ Award for Faculty Excellence. The award is
presented to one faculty member each year in recognition of
sustained excellence in teaching, scholarship and service.
Talbott’s students have won the National Student Case
Competition sponsored by the Institute of Management Accountants
(IMA) an unprecedented four times and have finished in the top
four on three other occasions. Last August at the American
Accounting Association national convention, the IMA presented
Talbott with a special recognition award.
Talbott also organized a unique program for Meadowdale High
School students. The program invites students to Wright State
once each week for two months and introduces them to accounting
practices and career opportunities in the accounting profession.
A two time winner of the Alumni Teaching Award, Wright State
previously named Talbott a Distinguished Professor. He has been
chosen the outstanding teacher in the Raj Soin College of
Business on six occasions. A member of the Board of Directors of
ESKCO Corporation, Talbott has also chaired Wright State’s
Faculty Affairs and Budget Review committees.
