Looking for a New Job? Haven’t Looked for a Job in a While?

As an alumnus, you receive all of the following services free of charge. You can:

  • Post résumés for employers to review, and respond to employer contacts – all with confidential security
  • Review job postings placed online by employers, and initiate contact
  • Review on-campus interview opportunities and manage on-campus interviewing schedules
  • Stay active by uploading your résumé every thirty days

Virginia Goshorn, who received her bachelor’s in MIS from Wright State in 1999 and her master’s in 2002, used Career Services for her job searches as both a student and an alumna. When her first employer downsized and offered her a separation agreement, Goshorn returned to Career Services. “My separation agreement included assistance in preparing for a job search,” she said, “But those counselors didn’t understand me or my background the way Career Services does. And because companies come directly to Wright State looking for employees, I knew Career Services could best help me target my search successfully.” Now a systems analyst in the advancement division of another Ohio university, Goshorn says she’s “still a Raider!”

Haven’t Looked for A Job in While?

“An alumnus who hasn’t done a job search for a few years may not be familiar with today’s trends,” said Julie Ermlich, assistant director of Career Services for the Raj Soin College of Business. “They may not be aware of current resume styles or interview techniques. A one-on-one appointment with our staff provides personal feedback focused on their specific situation and can be the difference between making an outstanding impression or a mediocre one.”

Are you prepared to answer an interviewer who asks you behavioral questions about your career progression and results? Do you need an objective expert to help you critique your resume? How can you convey to a prospective employer that you are an ideal fit with the organization's culture and team members? You can get professional feedback and practice through:

  • Resume and cover letter reviews
  • Mock interviews
  • On-campus job interviews and job fairs
