Look at the employers who have hired these recent Raj Soin
College of Business graduates: (from left), Justin Stebbins
(B.S. ’04) Intel; Gary Russell, Cintas; Brett Duell,
PricewaterhouseCoopers; and Segan Robinson, Federal Home Land
Bank – all Bacherlor’s of Business Administration graduates in
2004.
As students, these alumni also placed nationally in the
Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) sponsors the National
Student Case Competition. The case for the 2004 competition came
right out of newspaper headlines reporting accounting misdeeds
at companies such as Enron and WorldCom. The teams in the
competition were asked to explore the ethical implications of
different methods of earnings management.
Russell, who works at Cintas in Cincinnati, said it was his
second year to enter the contest. “It was hard work, but was
such a fun project, and the competition really drives you to do
your best. I enjoyed learning from real-world situations rather
than just theory from a textbook.”
Robinson said he entered the competition simply to further his
love of accounting. “I met an incredible number of people, and
was given a free membership in the IMA – it was great. I’ll do
whatever I can to make myself smarter and better at accounting.”
Robinson, who works at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati,
and Russell both give a tremendous amount of credit to professor
and student advisor Dr. John Talbott, who guided the team during
the competition. Robinson said, “He’s our favorite professor and
we all love him.”
