Re: 2012 Summer Internship Program – PAID
We are currently accepting applications for the 2012 American City Business Journals Summer Internship Program.
Are you an extrovert? Have a creative streak? Would you like to be in a professional setting with a meaningful summer assignment to put in your portfolio?
Dayton Business Journal is in its 5th year of providing a summer internship to 1-2 Ohio students. We feel strongly that an internship is an opportunity for both our company and our interns to make a difference in the business climate in the region. Last year, our two interns planned, sold and published our fall publication called the Meeting & Event Planner’s Guide. This year, we have a similar project for our summer staff.
Benefits of internship:
- No making coffee here, because you get real work experience as an account executive
- Sales training all summer at Sandler Training with the rest of the sales team
- Opportunities to apply for career positions at our locations from Boston to Honolulu after college
- No weekend work
Here are the specifics:
- There are two possible schedules available, with a total of 480 hours of work at $10 per hour:
- Full-time Summer Internship: 12 weeks during the summer, with start and end dates flexible to the student’s college schedule, with a work schedule of 40 hours/week from 8:30 – 5:30, Monday through Friday
- Part-time 6 Month Internship: 20 - 25 hours per week for 20 weeks
- Position is in Advertising/Sales with 10% of the time dedicated to marketing projects for our company
- Attendance expected at occasional after hours business events as well
- Work location is downtown Dayton
- Business attire and reliable automobile required
Application process:
- Deadline for application is February 14 for either internship
- One internship will be for minority candidates only and the other is open to any candidate. Please send a resume and designate if you are applying for minority or general internship, and whether you are interested in the fulltime summer internship or the part-time 6 month internship.
- In addition, candidates must submit a letter explaining their interest in advertising sales or marketing as a career and why it would be a good fit for their future
- Candidates must provide three references (in lieu of three references, they may submit three letters of recommendation) at the time of the interview
