Student Value

I think that the Human Resources Consultation class prepared me for what I am going to do in the real world. I liked working with a REAL company. I feel like I’ve learned a lot from working with them. All in all it was a great experience.

- Amanda Ward, Azimuth Corporation

It was a great opportunity to gain real life experience, and it throws you into what real companies want and expect from you. I liked the feeling of creating something that would immediately be implemented into a company’s corporate style.

- Britton Kees, Beavercreek Florist

I have gained knowledge from both the project and the company in my experience with the class. From the class I have discovered the tools for strategic planning, and to not be afraid to ask for advice. The company had taught me the importance of being clear and upfront to all clients.

- Demaris Ramsey, Beavercreek Florist

I liked the reaction and feeling I received when presenting our work to the company.  It gave me a great sense of accomplishment.

– David Coppersmith, Daycad

I liked having a class where the work I had done was not just for a grade, but also to make a difference in
a real life work environment. We didn't just spend time on the project for ourselves in order to get a good grade; we became a part of something bigger. Not only did I learn what HR really was, but I also learned how and where to apply it.  The gratefulness and excitement our client displayed was worth far better than any grade I could have received.

– James Kunk, Daycad

This project has played a major role in my education as a Management and Human Resource major. The class offered detailed work that related directly to the field of HR and offered me a chance to be familiar with the type of work that I would be conducting once I graduate in the fall. Although the class was stressful, I feel that I would not have been able to gain the experience and skills I acquired after taking the classes without either an internship/co-op or being a graduated experience employee in the workplace. My current employer has asked me to give examples of what my group has created so that they might be able to apply it to their own business. I feel that these classes offer WSU students a leg up in their future as a not only an HR professional but as a business student.

- Jennifer Beard, Brookville Grille

The opportunity to contribute to a Dayton area business as a student HR consultant was priceless. It allowed me to test my knowledge, learn new things, and acquire hands-on experience in Human Resources Management. This experience has also strengthened my teamwork skills.

- Amber Vuong, Brookville Grille

The Human Resources Consultation class goes beyond the textbooks and theories by actually requiring the application of what we learned to a real business. The amount of extensive group work builds communication skills, interpersonal skills, and teamwork skills, that will be used in the workforce. The entire experience was enlightening and nothing short of amazing.

- Joshua Sexton, Executive Suites Plus, Inc.

It was a rewarding experience that combined all of the knowledge and skills learned from the different Human Resources classes. Our group was excited to help a local company develop a human resources program that will be implemented to better position the company for future growth and success.

- Joseph Seiber, Executive Suites Plus, Inc.

Creating this project for our client allowed me to apply class material in a manner that is unmatched by conventional college curriculums. I have gained experience that will mutually benefit my future career and the business community.

- Stephanie Parks, Phillips Companies

This was one of the most intense in-depth classes I’ve ever taken at WSU, but it was worth all of the hard work in the end. I have gained more knowledge and have a new appreciation for Human Resources Management. In the long run, this class has made me more marketable for my future business career

.- Elizabeth Witt, Phillips Companies
