Playing A Different Tune: Niche Retailer Uses the Internet for Survival

BHA Piano Center owners, Bob and Brent Royer, are selling pianos all over the country from their Dayton location at 868 South Patterson Blvd. The Royer family has owned this business since 1949.

Bob and his son, Brent, now an accounting senior at Wright State University, boosted their online presence. Several manufacturers had told him he couldn't sell used pianos on eBay.com if he wanted to continue to sell new ones in his business. So, he stopped selling new products from the manufacturer that complained.

"We've sold pianos in every state in the United States, with the exception of Idaho and Rhode Island," he said. The company has sold pianos as far away as Zurich, Switzerland.
