The Dayton Daily News reported this morning (March 18) that State Senator Peggy Lehner of Kettering has raised the possibility that Governor Kasich may ask the entire Wright State Board of Directors to resign. Kasich’s office had no comment on the report.
The Daily News quoted Board Chair Michael Bridges as saying he had not heard of this, but that the board serves at the pleasure of the governor. Ms. Lehner said it would be a mistake to replace the board and she has told the Governor to proceed with caution. When Central State University had financial difficulties in the 1990s, Gov. Voinovich sought the board’s resignation to enable him to create a new board to fixate on the institution’s financial problems.
Bridges reported that he and assistant Chair Doug Fecher had met the governor’s staff recently, and try to make contact about ever six months.
