Social workers are professionals who help people cope with complex interpersonal and social problems and obtain the resources they need to live with dignity. Career opportunities for social workers exist in the following areas: children services, employee assistance programs, mental health services, gerontological services, and substance abuse agencies, to name a few.

  • The Department of Social Work is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
  • Admission into the social work major is selective.
  • A certificate in gerontology offers students academic preparation and practical experience in the growing field of gerontology.
