Career and Technical Education
Program Type:
Major
College or School:
The career and technical education (CTE) program prepares individuals from business and industry to teach in one of the five service areas taxonomies. A balanced program of general education, professional education, and study of CTE topics leads to a Bachelor of Science in Education degree. Career Technical licensure can be earned when the candidate has technical course work and recent related work experience. Licensure in other areas can be obtained with a dual major option. Teachers who have completed the CTE 37 quarter hour licensure program may apply those hours toward the bachelor's degree.
- Students with an associate degree from an accredited university may apply relevant technical education credits toward the baccalaureate degree.
- Several courses are delivered via web-based instruction.
- This program assists students with the transition from business/industry to education
- This program is not designed for the new, entering first-year student from high school. It is designed to provide the training for the CTE license and bachelor's degree to individuals newly hired to teach at a career technical school.
