Notice: All scheduled Orientation sessions at
the Dayton campus of Wright State University are now full.
Please call University College at (937) 775-5750 to make
arrangements to join a small group session that will allow
you to review and confirm your fall quarter schedule and
address questions you may have.
Orientation is an introduction to life and learning at Wright State University. Pre-registration
is required.
Your fall quarter class schedule: Your academic advisor will review your Pre-Registration Survey and placement test results to pre-register you into a Learning Community and other classes appropriate for your intended major. The day before your Orientation date, you can review your fall quarter schedule online. Questions and/or limited changes related to your class schedule will be addressed during Orientation. You must complete the Orientation program in order to confirm your fall class schedule. Non-confirmed class schedules will be automatically deleted at the close of each Orientation session.
Register for the earliest Orientation session possible as courses fill on a first-come, first-served basis.
1. Orientation is required
All students under the age of 23 who have never attended college are required to attend Orientation.
3. Students in the Post-Secondary Enrollment Option Program (PSEO) or Honors Program
If you have earned college credits through the PSEO, you will still need to attend Orientation.
If you have been accepted into the Honors Program, there is a special Orientation session just for you! Look for it in the drop-down list when you register.
4. Pre-service interview for students with disabilities
Don't forget to contact the Office of Disability Services to schedule your pre-service interview. The pre-service interview is designed to assess disability-related needs and to plan services accordingly. Students are encouraged to contact the Office of Disability Services well in advance (at least six months, if possible) of their planned entry date. You can reach the Office of Disability Services at (937) 775-5680, fax (937) 775-5699, or TTY (937) 775-5844.
5. Learning Communities
When you register, you will be asked to choose a Learning Community. These put you in a group with other students who share a similar major or other interest. You will share either a program or classes with this group. Choose which one sounds best to you at this time, but don't worry, you can always change it later.
6. Parents, spouse, or other family members welcome!
Your parents, spouse, or other family members are encouraged to come along with you, as they are an important part of most students' support system.
Your parents or other family members can also sign up for the free monthly e-newsletter, Parents as Partners, written by Wright State community members. Parents as Partners is the best way for your family to stay in touch with what's going on in campus life and how they can best help you reach your goals. Your family can sign up to receive this free e-newsletter by calling (937) 775-3232.
7. Best parts about Orientation?
You get to connect with some current students, other new students, and you also receive your Wright1 student ID card (new Wright State students only). Your Wright1 card identifies you as a Raider and also entitles you to student discounts at places like movie theaters. You will also confirm your fall quarter schedule and learn about course selection, academic advising, student services, computer accounts, and student life.
