What is Orientation?

Orientation is a program designed to assist students with making the transition to Wright State University. Participation in this new student program will improve students' overall understanding of academic programs, course registration, student life, and university policies and procedures.

Attending Orientation will help set the tone for your entire four-year college experience, so make sure to attend this welcoming, fun, and productive program.

During Orientation, you will:

  • Connect with colleges, academic advisors, and current Wright State University students.
  • Get hands-on experience using the WINGS/WINGS Express web portal and accessing electronic services.
  • Learn more about learning communities, service learning, and study abroad opportunities.
  • Confirm and finalize your first academic class schedule with an academic advisor.
  • Gain familiarity with the campus resources and get your student ID.
  • Get more information about First Friday and Freshman Convocation, scheduled for the Friday prior to the first week of Fall Semester classes.

Is Orientation mandatory?

Yes. All new Wright State University students under the age of 23 who have never attended college are required to attend Orientation.

If you have 24 or more credit hours (or equivalent semester hours), please contact University College at (937) 775-5750 to inquire about your Orientation and registration options.

Attendance for Parents/Guests welcomed but optional and not mandatory.

What time of day is Orientation?

For your added convenience, there are a couple of scheduling options:

  • Orientation is a full day session. Daytime and Saturday sessions: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. We ask any families who are unable to arrive until after 9 a.m. to reschedule their Orientation session.
  • Your schedule will be cancelled at the end of the day if you fail to complete the entire Orientation session.

How do I register for Orientation?

You can register and pay online. Register now! You will need your UID and password to register.

What if I can't find my UID and password?

You received your UID and password in your acceptance letter from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. If you are unable to locate your account information, please contact the CaTS Help Desk at (937) 775-4827 or helpdesk@wright.edu.

How much does Orientation cost?

$75 for you and up to two guests. There is a non-refundable $10 fee for each additional guest beyond the two included. Payment is due when you register. A $75 refund will be issued if your Orientation registration is canceled before 5 p.m. on April 15, 2013. You are able to cancel or reschedule your Orientation date on the registration form.

Family members are welcome to attend the Orientation program but their attendance is optional and not mandatory.

How do I cancel my Orientation registration?

You are able to cancel your Orientation date on the registration form.
