The Academic Advantage Program is an intense and innovative program offered by the College of Engineering and Computer Science. Academic Options—Writing and Study Skills
Introduction to College Writing
August 19–22
Give yourself a head start in your writing courses and Wright State career. Our Introduction to College Writing introduces you to the activities and expectations of ENG 1100, the first required Wright State Core writing course. This workshop is open to all incoming, first-year, Wright State students.
The workshop will help you prepare for other classes as well. Research shows that students who attend the workshop not only earn better grades in ENG 1100 than students who do not; they earn better OVERALL grades. Students have praised previous workshops:
- “We got individual attention and I really learned something.”
- “I really think this will help as I start school Monday.”
- “I would recommend this to any freshman taking ENG 1100.”
Wright State Writing Academy
July 29–August 22
Writing and reading in college present greater challenges than in high school. If you place into Developmental Writing, the Wright State Writing Academy offers you an introduction to the expectations for college-level work in writing and reading. In addition, you will practice the techniques, behaviors, and attitudes of successful college students; the goal of the Academy is to prepare you for success at Wright State.
